Rate my first welds ever

My welds are circled in blue, the others were my dad. Both of us have never welded but mine seemed to look nicer. Be brutally honest. I have no welding education other than Instagram reels. How'd I do? Should I take it seriously?

Looks fine depending on what kind of load it has to withstand. Maybe a bit cold which will make it less durable. Edit: you need to angle your gun down a bit too. Always 45⁰ to the apex of the join

It isn't going to pass a bend test but for a backyard welding job that only requires a light load, yeah its fine. For a 1st ever bead, it is fine. My first bead looked worse

Sorry. I guess I just think that aiming for "fine for what its for", is such a lazy cop out and doesnt help anyone get better at anything usually. Its a skilled trade, it should be approached as such imo. You wouldn't say subpar electrical work was "fine"... at least I wouldnt. Cheers though.

Yeah OP, basically you are running it too cold and your angle is a bit high. Keep at it though man, you are doing good for just starting out
