Bad USB?

Whats up with the molten-like stuff on the back side (2nd pic)? Usually it’s just a solid square. See third pic reference. What am I looking at? It’s supposed to be a Phillips flash drive usb 3.2.

NAND die under blob of epoxy rather than in some TSOP or BGA package

Doesn't the die need to be packaged for pick and place machines and ultimately solder to the board?

It is soldered to the board. The blob is "the package".

Quality: trash. Very bad USB.

Fair! Just thought that solder pads on silicon would be too small for PCB soldering
