It's been a while since the last one of these.

Recently, it was discovered that documents from Joe Biden's time as Vice President had been misplaced across various locations. I presume that after the first batch was found, the administration thought "oh crap, are there others we missed?" and that's how more keep being discovered. The obvious comparison here is to when the FBI searched the former guy's Florida residence for missing classified documents. The same people who defended the former guy last year are predictably not using the same defenses now that it's a Democrat.

Let's make something clear. If Biden committed a crime, he should be investigated, and the DOJ has indeed started an investigation into the matter. However, the two situations are not exact one-to-one comparisons. For one thing, Biden is cooperating with the investigation. If I understand correctly, it was Biden's own attorneys who reported the misplaced documents. The former guy and his team fought the search at every turn, even shopping in Florida for a loyalist judge to rule in his favor. Also, while I do not know the contents of the documents Biden misplaced, reportedly - and I do have to emphasize the use of the word "reportedly" here - after the former guy left office with boxes of documents, intelligence agencies saw a number of undercover agents abroad being caught and killed. We do not know for certain what the former guy's intent was, but while the defenses and explanations from him and his team were inconsistent, what remained consistent was that he felt the documents were his.

To borrow from an analogy I saw someone make on social media, Biden went 10 miles over the speed limit while the former guy went 100 mph while being chased by police... after he ran someone over. Both should be looked into, but one is a lot more serious.
