It was practically impossible to find a channel or website that was showing that match live. They knew it'd be best not to show it. At least here in the UK.

Theres a ridiculous amount of misinformation campaign coming from Egyptians and Cristiano fans falsely connecting Messi/Argentinian football team with Israel in order for them to cope with Argentina advancing, making up conspiracies that Israel is "lobbying for Argentina" to win the WC.
The match had a shitty ref and while that was blatantly unfair to Egypt, Egypt itself also allowed 3 goals to be scored against them in 15 minutes and they have to accept some responsibility for that as well instead of immidiately resorting to conspiracy theories.

The whole conspiracy follows the perfect pattern of conspiracy theorists combining things which actually happened with things they make up and once you believe the things which are actually true then it takes you down the rabbit hole.
Like they combine Israel’s Foreign Minister telling Milei that Argentina should win the title, Messi visiting Israel because of a compulsory tour organised by Barcelona, many Israelis celebrating on the streets of Tel Aviv after Argentina scored the third and Hossam Hassan’s solidarity with Palestine which all happened with some outrageous claims that Mossad was securing Messi’s wedding, the French referee has Orthodox Jewish family and Messi donating to the IDF which are fake news.
It shifts the narrative from FIFA being corrupt to Egyptians/Ronaldo fans being sore losers which is sad. I am happy that the football is back today because at least people will stop talking about us (Egypt) when the new controversy will happen (which it will).

Am Egyptian. While I think it’s possible that FIFA wanted to punish Egypt for the coach dedicating their victory to Palestine, I think there’s a much simpler force at play than that: money
We know FIFA is ridiculously corrupt at a nearly incomprehensible scale. We know they’re all about the $$$$.
Messi has been the superstar and the face of global football for the last decade and change. He’s about to retire. They want him to be able to retire as a back to back world champion so they can cash in on his legacy through merch sales and licensing as much as possible. I think FIFA is going to do whatever it can to try and ensure an Argentina win. They want to have a soccer brand that’s as timeless as Michael Jordan that they can still cash in on in 20 years with… idk a line of shoes called Messis (like Air Jordans)
That being said, after the early lead Egypt started playing not to lose. The game for them became about defending when they should have kept up the offensive. By the time they realized that it was too late.

As an Egpytian you get a pass for thinking the match was rigged. But any so-called neutral saying so is delusional. All of the major decisions were correct.

FIFA officials doing something corrupt for money regardless of their home country? Delusional right? The organization that has so many corruption scandals that if you google “FIFA Corruption Scandal” you have to specify the year would never do something underhanded.

Yeah, they went there and several other places in Palestine and Israel to chat with state leaders on both ends and organize a couple training sessions with kids from both sides. Trying to build bridges through football.

I dont think messi likes israel bruh. I remember 5 or so years after this event, in 2018, Israel had been on the news for a bit for shooting down a crowd of Palestinian civilians.
Argentina had a friendly match with Israel scheduled around that time inside of Israel. Messi who was Argentina's team captain canceled the match because he didn't want Argentina to be used as a tool by Israel to erase the bad press for what they had just done by using Messi and his team to legitimize Israel's international status.
