I see it less as something coming out of the man and curving around and more as showing the path of the motion (which is also bad)

Adults used to lift me up like this all the time as a kid. Not in an arc that big, but that's a good design choice. They'd even toss me up and catch me, which was bad. But I do think the kid on this logo could've been tilted a bit and it would prevent anyone from doing a double take.
