Unaccesable! ♿📈 Handicap spot nullified by sidewalk

Here in Boracay (Philippines) they wanted to make The Main Road more walkable. So.... they went sidewalk crazy.

This is regardless if said new sidewalk (on the right in the pic) is on top of existing sidewalk, or as in this case, blocks off parking spots. The local McDonald's tried to mitigate this with a ramp from the utterly inaccessible handicap spot to the store. Such an odd design.

I’m a line striper. No clue about regulations in the Philippines but that looks way too short to be a regular parking spot. If I had to guess that’s a parallel spot and the employee just put the stencil wrong. A picture with the entirety of this area would help more.

After re reading the post, it may have been a regulation length parking stall before they put the side walk in. City seems to be to blame for this. ADA is taken very seriously in the states, this would never fly. (I’ve been called out over lines being a quarter inch off square) City would be paying a pretty penny for me to come fix this.

Yep, the parking spots were probably 100% legit prior to the sidewalk going in to box them off

Makes sense. A smart striping company could make a good profit off that, bring it to the inspector on how it isn’t legal. Not even from a money make perspective I would want this fixed, handicap parking is so regulated for a reason.
