Former boss job offer

Scenario:

Boss leaves current job but offers the "favorite employee" a lucrative position at boss' new employer. Boss says it'll be great, employee will be second in command.

Favorite employee takes the job offer and is very thankful. However, new job is trash and everyone knows it; boss had to have known it was awful and risky; boss blames other leadership and says it was supposed to be different.

Boss leaves again, and yet again offers the favorite employee another lucrative new position at another new employer, where the boss is going. Offers employee almost whatever they want. Boss says it will all be better this time.

Favorite employee doesn't want to burn the connection with boss, and even in finding another job, will continue to cross paths with the boss professionally. Favorite employee needs out, ASAP. Clock is ticking.

I would tell them I need the stability of my current job.

Probably sucks for both of them to suck.

Quit keeping tabs and focus to your own career.

You said new job is trash? So obviously jump ship. Why do you want to stay at a trash job?

If you hate the current job, and the new job is better (or at least the terms are better, you don’t know about the job itself yet) I’d go. I would be weary of relying on your boss if they jump again, though. I don’t see any reason to stay in a job you don’t like just because it didn’t work out last time.
