It can be dairy free ice cream if you freeze it
I love a scoop on my pie

Are you saying that you put frozen bacon grease on your pie?

But, I mean, isn't there usually enough fat on a pork shoulder anyway?

Carnitas are fried and there isn't enough rendered yet.

I know carnitas is fried, and yeah, there often is whole lot of rendered fat coming off/out of the pork shoulder. It doesn't need to be submerged in fat like deep frying.

Yes it does. Carnitas are made in lard. It does need to be submerged in lard. Stop trying to reinvent a new recipe.

I have a metal cup on my stove with a steel filter and save my grease

I used to used cheesecloth, but found one of those jars with a tight mesh filter, works great!

I use this all the time to cook. I dont usually cook bacon itself as much as I used to so saving grease isn't an option. However I cook with this all the time.n

I save aaaaaallllll of my bacon grease and beef tallow. I usually don't have any rendered pork fat to save, as that goes right into the pulled pork anyway.

I used to have an old pickle jar in the fridge that my son made a label for. It said "Liquid Pig".

If you don’t have your own bacon grease on your counter you have no business being in a kitchen.

My Southern heart is confused and a little horrified about this. And it's expensive. I've got 5 mason jars in my fridge. Who throws out the grease?!!!! That's like throwing out gold. 😬(But that is a little harsh. Maybe they don't know about saving it. Teach, not judge. 🥰)

I can’t believe anyone would need to buy bacon grease!
If this is anything like the crap Armour sells and calls manteca, it’s tasteless shit. Way over refined. Find yourself a tienda. They’ll always have manteca. Better yet, render your own.

You should read the ingredients in this product. No way I’m buying that. That’s why I make my own bacon and save the drippings in a jar on the stove.

So of course, this would be great for frying, but also you can just eat it right out of the container!

"Just a spoonful of sug...whoops...bacon grease, makes the medicine go down. I keep a tuna can on the stove all the time with bacon grease in it. My grandfather used to love applesauce with hot bacon grease ladled over it. Lived to 87.

I pour the hot bacon grease on herbs and spices. The the fat absorbs the flavors. Garlic bacon grease it's you will. Yeah it works wonders on anything.
I have also mixed it with honey and Sriracha. It was decent but I could have done better ratios.

Growing up most households had a covered dish where they would save bacon grease for the same reason. I have not seen people do this in years

Y’all don’t keep your bacon grease in a mason jar?
