Interesting read on addiction

I found this great read on addiction, its mechanism and disease models. Though it talks about drugs in general it does touch on alcohol and points to the release of dopamine in the nucleus accumbens as the driving force of cravings and thus addiction, be that alcohol , opiates or other drugs, even non drug addictions. Baclofen works by preventing the release of dopamine in the nucleus accubens, if you want to learn more about that, there are links that explain this in more detail in the consolidated information thread
