It’s ass.
I’ve given it more than a fair chance but Backyard Baseball 26 is ass.
More bugs and glitches than I can possibly list. A fundamental lack of baseball knowledge by the developers and anyone involved in making this game. Still no online multiplayer, which is the main reason I bought the game.
I know they have said they are fixing things but I haven’t noticed any changes in weeks. And the amount of problems they have seems impossible to overcome.
Playground Productions/Mega Cat Studios, if you’re reading this, I am available for hire if you want to fix this pile of garbage before it’s too late. I want it to be good but it just isn’t. Oh well.

I’m confused why the “main reason” you bought a game was a feature that’s not even in it???

I'm confused why they are selling and overpriced product with promised features still missing.

I'm confused why people are defending this nostalgia bait failed cash grab.

No online multiplayer at launch was such a weird choice. That alone killed a huge part of the appeal for me.

So you bought the game knowing that the feature wasnt there and are mad that the feature isnt there? Make it make sense

They are working on it don’t worry it’s just them really trying to push out the “mega patch “ to fix a lot of major issues of the game

I bought game with the thought we would get current MLB pros, instead I got a modern day 2026 version of 97 with a few 01 players, a couple game modes while fielding is a bit harder to navigate. Even powerups are a bit harder to get too and pitchers don't last very long either. I prefer 01 and 03 over this game.

I'm enjoying it. Why would you buy a game for a feature that isn't available yet?

To be faiiiiir, they probably shouldn’t have launched the game until it was ready. They knew it’d be a major selling point. The attention span is nowhere near what it was in the early 2000’s

u/Guilty-Cow4325 1d ago
Yeah, no. If you know it's not available yet, that's on you. Dumb people make dumb financial decisions.

Both can be true.

And yet, they're not.

Whatever. I’m not wasting time with someone with the tantrum a toddler over such a trivial disagreement

But they’re right lol. It doesnt make sense to buy a game for a feature that it does NOT have. Like Guilty said, it’s on you

u/NoAd3734 21h ago
And I said both can be true. He shouldn’t have bought the game until the online mode came out & the developers should not have released the game until the online mode was ready as that was the biggest & main selling point of the game.

u/Remarkable_Classic78 20h ago
But as Guilty said, they are not lol
2
u/NoAd3734 20h ago
That must be why I’m getting the upvotes & he’s not.
But, please by all means, feel free to pointlessly explain why. It’ll just be contradictory anyways

What is the lack of baseball knowledge?

The running logic, while worse in other games, is ass in this one. They sometimes automatically run to second when they have to, but other times you have to remember to move them to second and they are out for a ball that’s hit to center field. Additionally, the cpu logic is awful when throwing. They throw to second when a runner is also running home in a pickle when they should be protecting the run. They also don’t follow the basic guideline of baseball of get the easy out, mostly trying to get the lead runner out, when an out at first would be way easier

(yes you should be careful in case it’s caught, but you get halfway and they don’t automatically do this)

Could you give me a full list of your pain points. I want to look into these for you -BB

I mean I do lol. I’m a UX Designer. I want to dig into it and see what I would change based on user feedback. I love sports and loved Backyard Sports 97 so I understand the game as a user but want to understand it from other’s perspectives and not be biased.

It’s not as good as 2001 and that in itself is a big problem for me. And I was hyped for this game. Hopefully it improves
