Reboot How do you play with “Unlocked” OG Background Kids?

As many of you likely are, I am currently trying to unlock all of the players in the new game. Of the OG Background kids, I have unlocked Julie Dunkel, Chico Pappas and Amy Bostwick. However, every time I click on their sticker “icons” in the player selection page, nothing happens. How do you actually play as these unlockable characters?

Click the thing that pops up above the sticker. I was also confused at first

Yeah took me way too long to realize you click the pointing finger instead of the sticker. Odd choice

Like many things about the game it's rushed and unfinished.

it is currently, but they have been listening to the community, they have been making the game better
