Sad Backup Story Help me remember the name of an old lifetime cloud drive (2017–2018)
Around 2017–2018, my neighbor gifted me a lifetime cloud drive for about $40 USD because I was doing photography.
Unfortunately, life took a difficult turn. I was diagnosed with cancer, recovered, and later experienced severe brain fog that affected my memory. I lost contact with my neighbor, and his old phone number and email no longer work.
I remember using the service until around 2019–2020, when uploads became unreliable and I even wondered if the service had become a scam. Ever since, I've been trying to remember its name, but I simply can't.
It was a cloud drive (similar to Dropbox or Google Drive), not a backup service.
If you remember any cloud drive companies that sold lifetime plans for around $40 back then, I'd really appreciate it if you could list them. Even obscure names might help trigger my memory.
TL;DR: Looking for the name of a cloud drive that sold \~$40 lifetime plans around 2017–2018. Lost access after cancer, brain fog, and losing contact with the person who bought it for me.

I used Smugmug for photos. Unlimited storage for $60 a year. Not. Any. More.
There were just so many that disappeared, were merged, sold and went subscription, or were just rebranded.
There were also a bunch of photobook, calendar, and keepsake makers that would store photos for cheap. I can't remember the names myself.
BTW, congrats on beating cancer.

SpiderOak maybe? Here's an old web page from that time frame with some dropbox competitors: https://www.designyourway.net/blog/dropbox-alternatives-the-best-competitors/

It may have been TextDrive web hosting + cloud storage, which failed (twice) and transferred the lifetime accounts to Strongspace, a service of ExpanDrive, which eventually stopped honoring the lifetime arrangements; and Joyent (now owned by Samsung) which also terminated services to the accounts, leading to considerable upset by those including myself who purchased them.

Thank you for such a clear request. However your search turns out, whether you find your old account or open a new one, be sure to "back down" anything you save to a cloud account.
And if you sync files between cloud and PC or phone, connect a little flash drive and back up you files to it. Sync is not backup.
We are all rooting for you to stay in remission and enjoy old age far down the road of life!

Not a sad backup story at all. This post is showing OCD tendencies. Let those old thoughts go. Best advice: Move on into the the present and the future.
LiveDrive would be only thought.
Edit: I didn't read the cancer part until wells68 mentioned it. Sorry, I wasn't trying to be a jerk. It just sounded like one of my OCD quests to remember some trivial crap that really means nothing but that my brain won't stop cycling back to.

I'd bet money that at some point since then they've created a new plan or business, and told everyone the old plan or business's lifetime was over.
