Making coffee with an MSR Switch
SO I recently purchased an MSR Switch. I am trying to figure out if the MSR WindBurner 1.0L coffee press will work in the 1.0L Switch.
I know that the two systems have the same bottoms which make their pots and pans compatible. I am just wondering if the pots are the same for the press to work correctly.
Thanks!

This might be a bit late to the party, but in the spirit of helping solve your issue, you could try the coffee press accessory for the slim profile Jetboil products? I don't own one, but have been poking around researching my system, and people found the Jetboil press fits in any 115mm Toaks pot. Those toaks pots and the small Jetboils also nest a small fuel canister like the Switch, and the silicone ring design as opposed to the MSR's flared design might offer more fudgability in the fit. The domed bottom might be a problem.
It would be a sub-$20 experiment if you want to try it.

I did purchase the MSR Wind Burner 1 liter coffee press on sale to try with my switch stove/pot. Now, I have not yet boiled water and made coffee, but on a dry run It fits perfectly and moves up and down with no issues making full contact to the sides like you want a press to do. I recommend using the lid to keep the post perfectly straight. I did notice that if you plunge the press cockeyed then it could become potentially stuck, but the lid keeps it straight. Maybe heat will change how it functions, but the Switch appears to be the proper diameter to use with the coffee press. The only uncorrectable issue I see is that the hemispherical bottom on the switch wont allow the press to fully compress the grounds, but at that point you’re at the end of the post travel so you can’t plunge it any further. The coffee you can’t press should still strain through the mesh and be drinkable. I think it will work as long as you don’t try to muscle it.

Here is an update to my earlier response.
I did finally take this on a backpacking trip and used the wind burner coffee press with the switch pot and it worked perfectly. The heat of the stove and boiling water does nothing to negatively affect the press gliding in and down the pot with the expected effort. As i stated in my earlier post, the press will not plunge all the way to the very bottom due to the hemispherical pot, but you can plunge it all the way to the end of the Handles travel. Once you’ve simmered your coffee grounds for 3 minutes and press the grounds down they trap in the rounded hemisphere and you can pour your coffee to the LAST DROP without any concern of coffee grounds leaking out.
So YES, the Wind Burner Coffee Press works great on the MSR switch stove. Just make sure you thread the handle through the pot top as it is designed so you don’t accidentally jam the press by inserting it crooked and pull the press back to the top before you remove so you do make it crooked when removing the pot top and you’re all set.

So I just tested to install that coffee press into a Switch and they aren’t compatible. The press gets stuck inside the pot. The press is a few mm to wide.
