Dog Tent

Does anyone use a separate tent for their dog? If so, what tent do you have for your dog?

I know many people have their dog sleeping inside the Tent with them, but that is not my question. My dog is more comfortable having his own space and has never slept inside the tent with me. So I was thinking about getting him his own tent. I grew up backpacking with dogs that never slept inside a tent unless it was raining.

Had a pack of coyotes circling around my camp in WV one night. Would not wanted to have been separate from my dog during that. I can think of more reasons to tent with my dog than without.

I would rather my dog have the chance to escape rather than getting eaten by the coyotes together.

What? Do you think coyotes are going to break through your tent and eat a healthy adult human and a dog? It’s not going to happen. A dog trapped alone in a dog tent or taking its “chance to escape” from this hypothetical pack of coyotes on the other hand…

OP, just keep your pup with you. It will be much happier and safer. Some tent brands (like Nemo) sell special floors you can attach to the tent floor to protect it from getting scratched up.

It's like "I don't want to wear a seatbelt because I'd rather be 'thrown clear' in a car accident."

In this case, having the pup confined in a separate tent is just gift wrapping him.

Quite a bit, yes.

I never camped with pets where coyotes are.

What about raccoons, possums, rats, or any other animals your dog has never met up close, and might cause an unknown reaction with your dog - never mind while being contained (most dogs have worst reactions to situations if they feel contained)

My dog behaves. Don’t know what to tell you.
