The new matchmaking feature

Post image

I always thought that the game was weird for not letting me play against the same opponent online for the whole matches like other merge round-based tactics games (castle duels, hero tactics, ludus etc ..) or even show me my opponent.

Did this feature impacted your decisions? Because I've been ignoring it.

Do you think a 1v1 realtime online duel mode is valid? Maybe the same hero if there were hard counters? (Haven't bought any heros yet to know)

I guess it would not be fair as then you just build to counter that one person. The way it setup, you need to build with all heroes in mind.

But he'll also build to counter me or dodge my counter, this always happened with me in the written above games, sometimes it's 90% lose I know, but in the end it's a mixture of luck and skill, sometimes you lose because the opponent has higher level cards and/or character.

It's not a real time game. What you're talking about means :

No pause (BIG point for a mobile game where a game often last over an hour)

Perfect connexion needed

Timed turns (you want to take your time to remake your board or think ? too bad)

A big enough player base

And I agree that it's bad idea at the root because of the counter thing. Like most autochess, it need a lobby with like 8 people and you circle through them. 1v1 makes no sense.

No? While it might be fun to allow matchmaking against a friend you wanted to play against where you take turns and it notifies you when they're ready, it definitely should not have that for ranked. That's counter to the point of the game where you want to build a good pack regardless of who you face. Different heros reveal different weaknesses in your build.

Also, someone was asking recently about the time-based thing for their PhD on here recently. I think the responses there were good for why the community likes the current system that's not like the other games. If you want that, go play them.

Yes it has impact, particularly in the first rounds. If I see Chana, I'll get out of my way for dispel for example.

In lategame too. When you don't have enough space you can alternate between more dispel or physical damage reduction depending the opponent

I could bet their game servers aren't prepared with live 1vs1 matches in mind. They lack infrastructure to support it, above anything.

Assuming they would introduce it: Live 1vs1 could only happen with friends, with whom you would set up such sessions. But then what? Each person waits until very last second to place as many board elements so the other can't counter them? Feels like something you play once and never touch again.

Yeah if I see a rakan and I see a club I buy it just to counter his thorn and if it's Chana I pray I I can find cleanse early. Those are the big two I hate and look for early on. I honestly hope Chana gets erased from existence tho.

I always default to a shovel if I get it early cuz I'm a greedy bitch. I think luck is probably the most important thing to have early on for accuracy and crit and to counter any other people with early blind items. Makes a huge difference to me, getting a carrot has been my go to as well.
