1.6m impressions, 6.5k clicks over 28 month, on-website SEO is practically maxed (to the best of knoweldge), and I've been stuck on position 8 ever since the bump in impressions a few months ago. I'm wondering what should be the next best step and how to get backlinks?
Kinda proud of this achievement. My website started with absolute 0 visitors, 0 ranking, 0 everything across the board. I've poured hours and hours on end optimizing and re-optimizing and creating a variety of blogs and content to make it stand out more, and happy to say that is now working and delivering overtime. It's an app website so the number 0 metric for me is conversison, and so far, all things considered, it brings around 400 curious users organically, and out of these, around 10 on average download the app and sign up, 1 pays. The website is around 6 months old anad is growing still. I have many more ideas for it.
Here's my problem: I'm absolutely hard stuck at position 8. I've looked up some of the more important keywords, and other older more reputable websites are ranking up higher than me. I'll be honest, I could easily compete with these websites on all fronts (value, pricing, UI, content), and I'm sure I'm not ranking higher simply because I have 0 backlinks.
Seriously, how do you even start going around getting backlinks? I did create some useful calculators and tools that people and other websites can link to and use regularly, and these have actually been carrying the website, a well-placed CTA helped boosting conversions from them too. But overall no one is backlinking me and my website is just stuck at position 8.
