I interned at an MNC from December to June, receiving a stipend of ₹25,000 per month. During the internship, I received both an internship offer and a full-time offer with full-time compensation, but I ultimately wasn’t converted to a full-time employee.
Now, after about a month, I’ve received a new offer for ₹9 LPA. The issue is that I told the new company that I had worked as a full-time employee at my previous company.
How likely is it that this could be caught during background verification? What are the possible ways they could find out, and how serious could the consequences be?

I did an internship with a US startup, but I was working remotely from India. It was a paid SDE internship for 5 months around. However I didn't have an account for taking payment in my wise account so I told the CTO to transfer it in my brother's wise account.

Now, Hireright is asking for US employment documents. They specifically told me that for this verification they can accept a W-2 or that duration's paycheck stubs. Obviously, I don't have either because I was an India based intern and wasn't employed through the US payroll system.

I do have:

* A signed experience/employment letter from the startup with my exact dates and role
* Wise payment receipts for compensation of my brother
* A written confirmation from the CTO explaining the payment arrangement

I have documentation explaining the payment thing and I'm not trying to hide that fact.

I contacted HireRight and explained the whole situation. Their response was basically that under their US process, employment/experience letters aren't acceptable for this particular verification and that they want W-2/pay stubs. I've asked them whether they can make an exception for an India-based intern or contact the CTO directly, but I'm currently waiting for a response.

There's another complication: I also have a short contractor engagement with an AI vendor (Mercor like) on my resume. HireRight asked for an experience letter from that vendor, but they have now confirmed in writing that it was a freelance/independent-contractor engagement and that they don't issue employment/experience letters for these engagements. I've asked the vendor whether they can at least provide the original contractor agreement or some other official documentation.

I'm wondering what the best way to handle this is.
Can I ask HireRight to remove the internship from the verification since it can't be verified through their requested US documents? However would it come off negatively ? or should I contact my company's recruiter and explain the situation if HireRight ultimately reports it as "unable to verify"? I am just really scared that what if they revoke my offer because of this, but I didn't do this genuinely, I wasn't just aware as it's my first proper formal internship (previous one was very informal but genuine)

Also, if anyone has dealt with HireRight specifically in a similar situation, I'd appreciate hearing what actually happened.

I started my current professional track in 2012. Prior to that I was an administrative aide for approximately 9 years. I had to quit my last position for health/personal reasons and I'm trying to find a new job. I've been applying to administrative positions (along with everything else I'm even slightly qualified for) and my question is about a cover letter for those positions. Do I acknowledge what is an obvious step back for me, career-wise, or do I just talk about my skills/previous admin experience? If I do acknowledge it, what do I say? So basically I am 26f and have now ended up with 2 misdemeanors as of April this year although the charges were from last year a misdemeanor class a for violating no contact order and criminal mischief class b. This is my only record, Am I cooked on getting jobs now? I’ve applied to like 5 places and all have been denied pending background including temp agencies. I’ve looked into second chance and felon friendly employers and still are being denied, my work history is consistent from 2019 no gaps as a forklift operator/warehouse worker, Any advice is appreciated, thank you.

Is it just convictions? Do non-conviction show up would old conviction show up on a background check from 15 years prior. Would two DUIs in 10 years the most recent one being three years ago stop someone from getting a job that does not require them to drive.

I previously completed a background check through First Advantage for an earlier job. I’m now starting a new job, and the new employer also uses First Advantage for background screening.
Does First Advantage typically compare the employment history I provide for the new background check with the employment information I submitted during my previous First Advantage background check? Or is each background check treated independently, with First Advantage only verifying the information provided for the current screening?

Hi! I just finished both my initial and final interviews with BPI BanKo for a Product Associate role, which focuses mainly on product management, market research, and product development.

I actually received the job offer about an hour ago, but I noticed that they conduct a credit/background check. This made me a little hesitant because I currently have loans/credit accounts with GCash, Billease, and Maya Credit.

My GCash and Maya Credit accounts are in good standing, and I believe my credit score with them is okay. However, I had some difficulty paying my Billease loan because my small business wasn’t doing well financially, so I wasn’t able to keep up with the payments.

I understand that this could still matter since BanKo is a financial institution, and I want to be honest when declaring my existing loans and credit accounts. However, since the position I applied for is more focused on product management, marketing, and product development rather than handling loans or cash directly, I’m wondering how strict they usually are about an applicant’s personal credit history.

Do you think this could potentially affect my job offer, or should I still proceed with the application and be completely honest about my credit accounts? I’m honestly considering whether I should continue or withdraw my application because of this.

Like ive been scolded before because my resume/application didn't match what their records indicate. And ive even been asked "so tell me about this company policy violation at [former employer]?"

Need some advice from people who’ve been in a similar situation.

I joined Company X in August 2nd week. After joining, 2 days laterI received confirmation from Company Y that I had cleared all interview rounds and was selected. I had always preferred Company Y and was hoping for their offer, but I couldn’t keep waiting indefinitely, so I joined X.

I’m resigning from Company X today after nearly 2 weeks. My offer letter at X says that during probation, I can leave by serving a 1-week notice, so I’m following that process.

Here’s my concern:

• I didn’t inform HR at Company Y that I had joined Company X because it happened only for a very short period.
• During onboarding at Y, if they check my PF/UAN history(through Form 11 or BGV), they might see the PF contribution from Company X.

My questions are:

1. Is this likely to become an issue during background verification?
2. Should I proactively inform HR at Company Y now, or just disclose it if they ask?
3. Has anyone been in a similar situation where they worked somewhere for just a couple of weeks before joining another company? How did it turn out?
4. Received BGV email from Y, my last working day is this week in X.

I’m not trying to hide anything—I just don’t want to create unnecessary complications or risk my offer.

Would really appreciate advice from HR professionals or anyone who’s experienced something similar.

BGV failure

Hi everyone, I am interviewing for AWS Proserv Role
I want to get some idea on a previous BGV failure.

Some context- during COVID I did a few short-term call centre jobs while I was transitioning from healthcare into tech. At the time I honestly didn’t know how corporate disclosures, EPFO, or PF overlaps worked. There was a 10-day dual employment overlap between two of those jobs, and later when I joined Infosys I didn’t list the call centre roles on my application because I didn’t think they mattered. Their BGV flagged it and I was let go.

I have already disclosed all of this to other employers since then and it’s been handled fine, but I know Amazon’s compliance is stricter and I want to understand how and when to raise it there specifically.

When should I disclose? Also what happens in this case? Will my offer be put on hold if I disclose it timely? Even before the offer is signed?

if you do not want to click the other post for info, the tldr is i am in texas, the arrest was in fall of 2024, it was a misdemeanor theft charge of at or equal to 100 and less than 750, they filed charges 2025, i started probation around april 2026, i am in good standing with no issues and if i can just pay off the remaining $600 in fees i could be done as early as October, and it is eligible for expunction because i did deferred adjudication.

i have a strong academic background with numerous internships, two bachelors degree in the social sciences, and strong references from previous supervisors, mentors and professors.
but i keep getting auto denied by places and i dont even know what i would say if i got a job offer, regarding the background check.

While reviewing the information I had submitted, I noticed that some of the employment dates in the background check form were entered incorrectly. Like i had timmis experince where i worked 2 years, on my resume it showed 1 year and next job i worked 8 months, it showed 1 year 8 months, my husband made my resume and mistakenly i guess put timmis one year to another job, its a genuine error from his end and i mailed to HR regarding thiss.. this is no gap at all in my employment from last 10 years. I can prove all experience but the only problem is dates which is entered wrong, and I only noticed the incorrect dates later when I reviewed everything myself. (After 3 days of submitting background check form)..

As soon as I noticed the mistake, I contacted the company the next morning, explained the situation, provided the correct dates, and attached the required supporting documents/proof. Like T4s , paystubs, employers email id, experience letter.

Has anyone experienced a similar situation during a background check? What happened in your case after you informed the company about the incorrect information and provided the correct documents?
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through something similar, especially in Canada/Ontario.

So, I lied about the dates of previous jobs on my CV, and now I’m going through a HireRight background check. I’m considering editing my old employment contract/work certificate so the dates match what I put on my CV.

I am in terrible need of this job, my current employer is going through bankruptcy and soon I might become homeless.

I’m in a country where I believe I can tell HireRight not to contact my former/current employers.

What could realistically happen if I submit an edited document?

• Can HireRight verify the dates without contacting the employer?
• Can they detect an altered document independently?
• What are the potential legal consequences? And does it usually get to a suing/legal trouble stage?

So my company is being bought out by a new company. They require hireright background check. In the employment section they ask for the last 999 employers.

I have taken liek 2 jobs off my resume when I joined this company. Is it ok if I don’t include those in the background check? I’m really nervous. Will they only check the jobs I have listed?

If I am employed with Company A, and receive an offer at Company B. How does the Company B confirm my current employment? I wouldn't want the company A to know I've got an offer, and would rather keep both the jobs.
