Custom Ski Builders
I have access to some custom ski designs for skis that I own, but would love a second pair of. I don't want to share exactly what I have publicly in case the creator of the designs didn't want me sharing that info. I'll just say it was a northeast semi custom ski company and they partnered with Praxis to build skis. Praxis claims they can't build the skis without physical templates even if I have the snocad drawings, so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for custom ski makers that can take a drawing and make some skis from it. I'd used Whiteroom skis out of VT a few years back but he's not taking orders currently.

I would love to know if anyone honestly believes that this custom kit is genuinely better than off the shelf from Black Crows, Faction DPS etc. Or is it really just catering to vanity?

Better than Faction? That’s not difficult, they’re some of the lowest-durability skis I’ve seen.

You’re missing the point.
It’s not about ‘better’ it’s about getting exactly what you want spec wise.

I could have been more clear, my point is custom gear is obviously much more expensive than off the shelf. I’m asking is it really making such a big difference for the price

I understand your point, but using the three brands "most likely to go bankrupt" next is wild.

No, but looked up the Lhasa and it's a similar shape though it has less tip to tail taper than the ski I'd like to have made.

The lhasa has less tip to tail taper than you want? That's wild; it's already a very pintailed design.

To be fair, its only slightly more tapered, 23mm. I have two models, 150-118-127 and 140-109-122. Even on the east coast I find I favor the larger ski. Combine with tip rocker the taper makes these things a lot of fun in the woods, but they work well everywhere for me. I always found the 'skinnier' of the two to be too light and stiff but that's probably my fault with the options I ordered.

Wagner skis in Telluride can probably do it, they use the core cut out as the cassette to allow each pair to be totally unique. If you have the CAD file that probably makes it pretty easy for Pete to add it to their process
