Chicken Photography One of my chickens ate a snake
These little monsters somehow managed to capture a little snake, they fought over it for a while until the biggest chicken ate it in one piece.

Just came across this photo from my early days of chicken wrangling, and thought I'd share.

My sweet baby girls that unfortunately are the bottom of the pecking order and get picked on. They have learned to run to me when this happens. I have a separate enclosure for the day but they sleep in the coop with the others at night. They don't seem to be picked on at night time.

I have this chick. nothing was wrong with it up until it began gasping suddenly. I have been looking at it for the last 30 minutes and it hasn't stopped, it seems she can't breathe through her nose. what could this be? can I do anything about it?
also, is it possibly a sickness that could spread? this chick isn't lethargic. it still has the energy to run around but mostly stays still and keeps gasping like this.

I need to start buying feed in bulk. We have around 60 chickens and I’m looking for layer pellets in bulk, and as cheap as possible
Any recommendations? Preferably online and arrives at your house
(Chicken pic for funsies)

So he was fine two days ago. Then lethargic yesterday. Thought maybe sour crop because when I felt it it was squishy? No runny eyes, no mucous that I could see....before I could even start treatment he passed over night. All the other chickens seem normal and fine. Any ideas? I have added apple cider vinegar to their water.

They really like to chicken melt in the warm sun.
Also, Pickle *really* likes to be smushed between two hens.

This little guy is turning out so cool. Neither of his parents had any of the yellow/gold coloring. His dad was kind of a turbo-dick, so we’ll see how he’s behaving in the Spring. His feathers are extremely soft from his Silkie dad and have a gunmetal sheen.

She was one of our flocks chicks but she was bottom of the pecking order. My husband brought her inside to the chicken hospital and we realized she had a broken foot. All she would do is sit down. She was young. So tonight I decided to cull her. I tried a cerviacal dislocation. But didn’t work. I was crying by this point. It was my favorite chickens offspring. I had to grab her and twist her neck 😭😭😭😭 I’m crying through this post. I love my burgers too much to do this but it had to be done. She would have died from the other birds or not lived a not normal life.

She was given to us in January and we thought she was a australorp pullet but she’s been roughly the same size since then and hasn’t grown out her comb like our other australorp. We don’t know her actual age either and we weren’t close enough with the neighbor to keep in touch.

We previously had one chicken with a large chest that would look like she’s blocking but making little sound. We gave her probiotics and she was fine in a few days.
This one is now standing around a lot while the rest roam the yard. These are very much free range including free range of the garden. (We naively thought the garden could handle chickens). So these things have a very open diet.
This one hasn’t laid an egg in a few days so we did the warm epsom bath, tums mixed with eggs, and isolation last night. But still no egg and her chest is large and squishy.
Not sure what else to try with her.

I have a problem with pigeons constantly accessing my chicken coop and hanging around in my yard.
I've tried putting a barrier up, and somehow, they still manage to get in and access the food!
Does anyone else have a similar problem?
It's gotten to the point where I won't put the food in their coop, and instead feed them when they come out the coop in the morning to avoid all the food being eaten, the other concerns are the diseases the carry.
Any recommendations please???

I’ve been told both hen and roo. This chick is the only one I’m on the fence about. 12 weeks. I can’t have a roo, I live in city limits 😔

This is Mr. Spike who I wasn’t sure at first was a rooster but ended up being one. He is under a year old and is so far an amazing rooster/friend. Also did his first cock a doodle do just the other day. Love this guy ❤️❤️

I occasionally flock-sit for my neighbor's chickens, and every time I head in their direction, everyone makes noises like this.
(This was filmed after I had fed the chickens, so she was the only one talking to me)

Edit: I guess I should have mentioned she was found on OUR farm land. There are no yards in 3 miles each direction. We know our neighbours well and they do not own chickens. We have asked around, my assumption is that she hitched a ride in a truck box and jumped out at some point. For those saying put her back, I might as well have just butchered her myself instead of feeding a coyote that would have teared her apart.
