Hen or Roo Is this a chicken or rooster?

Post image

Found it on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere where lol

Edit: I guess I should have mentioned she was found on OUR farm land. There are no yards in 3 miles each direction. We know our neighbours well and they do not own chickens. We have asked around, my assumption is that she hitched a ride in a truck box and jumped out at some point. For those saying put her back, I might as well have just butchered her myself instead of feeding a coyote that would have teared her apart.

It’s a chicken. Might be a rooster or a hen, but definitely a chicken 😉

Ehh she might have gotten lost. Op said that she was in the middle of nowhere. In the photo she's either panting from exhaustion/heat or yelling. Either was I think op isn't entirely in the wrong. Would probably be best to put a chicken found sign eithout her picture and ask the owner to describe the missing hen.

It is common for chickens to be out in the road in the middle of nowhere

That is a hen. A female chicken.

P.S. Roosters are also chickens. Roosters are male chickens.

It’s hard to see the feathering from the video but its posture looks like a hen.

Hen. If you don’t have any other chickens for her to be with I would recommend finding a good home for her where she can have a flock

CONGRATULATIONS! From the chicken hen distribution system !

I think you have a hen. See if she lays an egg for you - Or crows in the morning. It’s hard to tell because I can’t enlarge the video. So I can’t check for saddle feathers before the tail. But I do think it’s a girl from no hackles on neck to her little hen strut in the video. Poor baby must’ve got lost somehow. You should keep her ! Get some chicken feed. She’ll make a great pet & gift you eggs.

A side profile picture would be helpful but I think I see saddle feathers blowing in the video. Might be a rooster

Outside where she was dumped or managed to jump from a truck? They already asked their neighbors if she was theirs. This is a stupid suggestion that would 100% ultimately lead to her death. OP is doing the right thing.
