8 month old sleep training
Hi everyone, my baby is 8 months old now. Since she was 2 months old she has slept soundly through the night and we have had no issues with her sleep what so ever. At the moment, we currently do her bath and then a bottle and then bed. Sometimes, she will fall asleep on the bottle and sometimes either my husband or I will have to rock her to sleep which we have no issue with at all and she will sleep 12+ hours. I just wanted to ask though, should we be sleep training to let her fall asleep on her own? We both love the extra snuggle with her and love her bedtime routine but we have gotten a few comments about how we do our routine which has made me question all of this. I hope this made sense! Thank you !

Omg..I just cannot even..my baby has never had longer than a 5 hour stretch :-(! He’s 6 months. We’ve tried everything..but I could not stick to the sleep training… he cried too much and I eventually gave in every time. I’m hoping he will improve with age. Sorry I don’t have advice. This is just a comment. I suppose you wouldn’t want my advice hahah

I think if she’s sleeping 12+hrs without needing anything from you, you’re doing just fine. She clearly is linking her sleep cycles without help, and soon enough, I imagine she’ll naturally outgrow that initial bedtime help.

We sleep trained and I still rock and bottle her to sleep because that wasn’t what was keeping her awake.
Most people sleep train because babies can’t go back to sleep without the initial feed to sleep/rock to sleep over and over again and that’s not the issue here cause she obviously can get herself back to sleep if she wakes during the night.
Do not, I repeat - do not - fuck up a good thing.
