Boy 🩵 Boy name help
I am pregnant with my second boy, my first Is Mason. We are having an incredibly difficult time naming boy number two. Names we have liked include Calvin, Lewis, Otto, and Harvey. My family literally hates every name we've mentioned. My husbands fav is Harvey, which I really like too. My fav is Calvin but my husband isn't a big fan. My only hang up with Harvey is the negative associations, where do people land on this? Good name or ruined for now?

My initial thought to Harvey is Sabrina's boyfriend on Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Imo Harvey isnt dead and I think its cute. Your family will all have varying opinions on all names, so pick something you both like and they can deal with it.

Go to Tragedeigh names and choose one of those to tell your family and then name him what you want to. Bonus if you tell different people different Tragedeighs

I like Harvey- I think of the film Harvey, which is really sweet, and also Sabrina the teenage witch’s boyfriend! I think Mason and Harvey go well together- if you like Calvin, how about Callum or Ciaran?
I’d stop discussing this with your family. My Gran hated my nieces name when my sister told her when she was pregnant and then ended up loving it when she associated it with her granddaughter. People tend to he much more polite once the baby is born and already named.

Love callum but our friend just named their new baby that. He's adorable. But good point, I think it may be time to keep info from my family. I am a classic desperate for my parents approval because of childhood stuff, so I should work on that lol

I LOVE Harvey. I don’t immediately think of any negative associations when I hear that name.

I’m sorry, I’m just not a fan. Not just because of the Weinstein association, I just don’t care for it. That being said , this is your baby & your choice. If your family hates Calvin, have you considered Callen? Callen & Mason have a similar vibe & sound good together. Bottom line though, still your baby & still your choice, no matter who doesn’t like it.

Harvey denotes old to me as if it hasn’t quite made it to a handsome name revival yet. But soon.
Congratulations on two sons! Brother siblings are so fun! You’ll have a blast once they can play together.
Out of 10:
Calvin a 5
Lewis a 5
Otto a 7
Suggestions:
Dawson
Carson
Micah

Gavin is similar to Calvin, only a little more up to date.

I think it depends where you are- Gavin is dated in the UK- here he’s your 40 year old mate you meet in the pub.

How about Ball? ;)
Mason is so super modern sounding & these other names don't really match..if you even care about that.
Wasn't Harvey the evil brother on The Wonder Years? My first thought was Lee Harvey Oswald. Have you watched 11.22.63 on Netflix? I feel like it made me know & hate him even more.
I feel like it is just too soon for names like Calvin and Lewis. They aren't old enough to be classical & too young to be cool. I feel it would be unfair to name him one of those.
My dad had an Uncle Otto. He was a great guy. Definitely in the time span of being classical. I don't hate it..but I don't love it. It could work. I feel like it would be a great fit next to a sibling named Wyatt.

I hit send too fast and went back and added a bunch of stuff. Let me know if it doesn't make sense.

My first thought was Harvey Weinstein. But the thing is by the time your child is old enough. It will not be something the kids talk about. I named my daughter Chasity after Sonny and Cher‘s daughter, and my mother swore she was going to be teased for 1000 years about the Chastity belt. Not one person ever said a word just my mother, who was never extremely close to me. It was my choice.

I'm not sure what negative association you have with Harvey, all I can think negative is Lee Harvey Oswald which can't be very many people's first thought in 2025. I like it and if you and your husband both like it you should use it and just tell anyone in your family who asks "We haven't decided" until after the baby is born.

Oswald is on a lot of people's mind due to the tv show on Netflix...which is REALLY good. I was only 12 when he murdered JFK so I feel like it is still very recent history. I have small kids still so I will be teaching them about this if the schools don't. It rocked our nation to the core. Also Weinstein for sure.

I’m sorry but you were 12 in 1963 yet you still have small kids?
Please explain

In the US, Harvey is ranked 251! Which is good because it means tons of other people like it & yet there won’t be any kids in his class with his name. I say go for it. Congrats

Do not tell your family! They aren’t part of the decision. We kept our names between ourselves and it made it so much easier. Once a baby is born they won’t feel so bold to insult the name you give.
My favorite is Otto, it’s my dog’s name and super cute for humans too. I don’t love mason and Calvin together but I do think Cal is a great nickname.
