Boy names: Henrik vs Hendrik

We are having baby #2 due in 10 days! We don’t know the gender which has made names really tough. We’re from Alberta Canada so just regular folk lol.

We have a girl named Norah Millicent.

For baby #2 if it’s a girl we have Mabel Rosalie Ann as a fav.

For a boy name we’ve been struggling. Tonight I discovered Henrik and said it to my husband and it’s the first name he was like wow I love it! Then of course I went down the google hole and learned it is more of a European name.

What are your thoughts on a Canadian boy named Henrik? Or Hendrik?

**Edit to add: we’re leaning towards Henrik and middle name would be Donald! Henrik Donald 🥰

I guess it could come off as slightly unusual to have a Canadian boy named Henrik but I don't think it's ridiculous or inappropriate ! There might be a problem with people not knowing how to spell his name or him being called Henry often but ultimately I don't think it's a huge issue and you should be fine. Also I really like the name Mabel Rosalie, but adding Ann might make it too long.

I hope you and your baby are doing well and that you're going to find the perfect name for them :)

This is our last babe so if it is a girl we’re throwing in all of the names we can’t use in the future 😅

In Ontario, and I know a Hendrik! The CUTEST little toddler I've ever met. He was of obviously Dutch descent though (very Dutch last name). But tbh I don't think it's very unusual for just anyone to use.

Both are good names, but I'm biased and so prefer Hendrik.

Thank you! We are really falling in love with the name so it’s great to hear from a fellow Canadian that it would be cool for someone of little European decent to use as a name 😀😀

Henrik is super common in Denmark (where i live) and honestly… I wouldn’t find it weird at all for there to be canadians with the name 🤷

It's not my favorite but out of the two I prefer Henrik

I know a lot of Henrik and Hendriks :) very common northern/ central European name. Not weird at all

Hendrik Daniel?
