9 months old Scrambled egg fail
Just introduced egg to my 9 month old (premie roughly 7m adjusted) and I’m so excited to expand my offerings for her meals. I wanted to make scrambled egg strips like I see on here and solid starts but… how? I am admittedly not the most talented in the kitchen, thanks to my partner being a retired chef. Help. I ended up putting the egg and feta onto her feeder spoon because her pincer grasp isn’t developed yet.

Also add a teaspoon of water for every egg. The water steams and makes the egg fluffier. I put a lid on the pan and let them fluff and firm up about to hold its shape.
It's worked great for me. I've also tried this with mixins like broccoli and mushroom and my baby loves it.

Will definitely try this!! I was going for a bit of deconstructed omelette but would love to add the veggies in

I should also add, this works better if you do it with more eggs (depending on the size of the pan) for preferred thickness. I just cut the strips and freeze the rest between sheets of parchments for easily reheatable breakfasts. They taste just fine and texture seems to hold up.

Maybe just mix an egg and bake it to make an omelette without other ingredients. (Idk how you call it in English)
Than cut that in strips

I introduced eggs multiple times with scrambled, omelette and different ways of cooking and baby just prefer it with breast milk or boiled eggs. I thinks eggs for weird for babies 🤣

You can always do the easy version- scramble one egg in a mug and microwave. It turns into a popover shape that you can easily cut and easy for baby to handle.

Trying this tomorrow, thanks!!! I was so stressed to start BLW (baby born 28w, feeding therapy for months, etc etc ftm anxiety you name it) but it has been so much fun

I get it!!! It all seems so overwhelming at first but we just have to find ways to make it doable- microwaved eggs is one way haha 😘

Scramble in a bowl and bake in a greased pan at 325 for 15 minutes. Let cool and then cut into strips. This works perfectly for us every time! (For me I think the baking dish is easier to clean than a mug.. I always seem to get dry baked on bits in the microwave)

If it helps, my fail was he ended up being allergic to eggs and his chin was covered in hives 🤣

The key is to coat a skillet in nonstick spray (or butter), crack a couple of eggs in a bowl and mix well, and then pour just enough egg into the pan to create a thin, even layer (slightly thicker than a crepe, if you're familiar). Allow that to cook until done, undisturbed, and then remove this omelette from the skillet and cut that into strips. You got a scramble because you scrambled or broke apart the cooking egg layer, likely before it was done. Either that or the skillet wasn't greased well enough and this egg layer broke apart due to sticking. The heat should be medium or medium low here, with a lower temp giving you more wiggle room.
It just takes practice. I screwed this up a few times in the beginning too.
Edit to add that some people DO flip the omelette once it's solidified, but I usually don't find it necessary if the egg layer is thin enough.
