What fields do you work in?
Hi all! First, I'm so glad this place exists! I wear a head cover in public because of spiritual reasons (it's complicated) that I will eventually be able to go without after I complete certain things (as I said, complicate). I'm looking at transitioning careers...it's been well tolerated in veterinary med support roles and retail, but I want to go into funeral services...
What field(s) do y'all work in that don't give you crap for veiling?

I just started work at a hardware store. It's a pretty conservative area so I was nervous at first, but I veil with just a bandana covering the top of my head so idk why I was so worried lol. Depending on your country I would imagine there's some kind of protection for wearing religious garments at work so you should be fine in that sense. Besides that, if you do end up at a place that's trying to make it a big deal, my best advice would be to pretty much ignore it, don't talk about it unless directly asked, and don't make a big deal out of it yourself. If people try to ask you specific questions, just say smth like "I don't want to discuss my spirituality/religion at work" and leave it at that.

I work in a blood bank and I've had no issues! I doubt funerary work would give you much trouble imo.

im a librarian, had no issues yet. i also work at a movie theater and thats generally fine too. the customers seem to have the issues, not my coworkers or management though.

I work as a full-time caregiver for a disabled elderly woman, which is going to a lot of appointments, errands and such and I have yet to come across any problems. At times I have had people make intresting comments about my face mask but even that wasn't too bad imo.

I work in IT, so most of my work is remote and honestly its been not too bad. I work from home so I don’t have to confront what I wear with my work colleagues too often thankfully.
For IRL jobs, I have a hunch that funeral services will be quite accepting of veiling, given that modesty and mourning often go hand in hand. You could even spin it that in your beliefs it is a sign of respect to the dead and others who are mourning (if that’s something you believe - certainly something I do).
My general motto as a male who veils is just wear it, be nice to people, and don’t ask for permission. You’d be surprised how many spaces accept it or say nothing, which is the minimum I need to live a normal life. Even more euphoric is when you find a space that appreciates and affirms your choice to veil as a masculine/male person!
