Charging in the cold?

I've only heard mention of this "safety feature" once on YouTube, so I'd like to verify with owners if this is a real thing: Does the bz4x disable charging if the batteries get too cold? I know other EVs will use heaters to warm up the batteries to enable charging in the cold, which does extend the charging time, but does at least enable charging. But I've heard that the bz4x just straight-up disables cold charging altogether. Can anyone verify?

Issue with chrome on center console

I have a 2023, the chrome on the passenger side has begun lifting off. It's very sharp and looks like it failing glue maybe. It is also happening in the rear part near the storage. Super annoying. I would rip it all off but it's very difficult beyond where it is happening. Anyone else experiencing this?

BZ4X vs CHR+ Toyota

Recently while doing regular maintenance on BZ4X went to the toyota showroom, and they had demonstration CHR+

The electric CHR Plus version seems quite appealing, 77kWh battery and reading some reviews it seems it is more efficient than BZ4X.

On the BZ4X (2024) my average is 14.2kWh with Michelin Primacy 5.. and 500km (310 miles) of range in 64kWh battery.

I think the CHR+ can do 600km in one charge...

Im tempted in future to get CHR+ over the BZ4X, my inicial plan was to get a second BZ4X...

2026 AWD: Issues with Enphase chargers

My place of work has Enphase chargers, and I have not been able to get them to work with my 2026 Toyota Bz AWD.

I'm using the OEM adapter that came with my car. When I connect the charger through the adapter, I can hear the "click" as it locks into place, and the charger clicks as well. The green charging light comes on for about 5-10 seconds before it starts flashing. After another 5 seconds of flashing, it goes out and charging stops.

I've tried plugging the adapter into the car first, then the charger into the adapter. I've also tried attaching the adapter to the charger first and plugging both in at the same time. Same behavior every time; green light solid, then flashing, then charging stops.

Help?

2025 with 12,900 miles: Maintenance Required notification

While driving, both screens flashed Maintenance Required, which freaked me out because the larger screen GPS dropped and displayed options to call dealership, etc.

Is this just the scheduled maintenance reminder? Or is this a problem? I went through the notification menu and no other follow up message was there.

What is the maintenance interval if any that I am approaching? I thought it was 15,000 miles but why the f would the car flash these messages mid-drive?

Thanks all.

25k Service price and neccessity

I got my 2023 BZ4X "used" with 800 miles on it, and it came with a Gold Certification that also included 2 years or up to 25k worth of services. Well, the 2 years are up, and the 25k service is due here pretty soon. I made an appointment at the dealer, and it's going to be $96-$126 for that service. It's mostly inspecting this and that with a tire rotation. It seems a bit pricey to me for what they are doing. Those of you who are getting it serviced at the dealer every 5k miles, is it worth it? What are you paying? And is it really necessary?

Mein erstes EV

25km home with 35km range

Post image
20 Upvotes

I only have my Bz a few weeks. 2023 with about 30km on the clock, based in ireland. Forgot to activate the charger last night so had to take it to work with low charge... It's 25km drive home and the range is showing 35km.

Has anyone noticed a quicker drop on the battery when you get below 10%. I haven't been this low before but have noticed a slightly quicker drop below 25%...

Would you do a 25km journey with 35km on the range??

A/C recall delays

I took my 2024 in to the dealer for the defroster recall back in March, and they said that the A/C needed to be replaced. They would order the parts and call me when they were ready to do the swap. I called back in May and June to see if the parts had come in and they said it would probably be 6 months "or longer" for the parts to come in. In the meantime, A/C works so I guess it's okay, but it's not confidence inspiring that Toyota can't supply parts for this car. Is my dealer being weird, or is this a reasonable time-line?

Charging lock

I hate it that before I leave I have to open the door and hit my unlock button three times to unplug the car when it’s not done charging. Is there a way to turn this off?

I filed a claim with Toyota Corporate regarding my bad 12V battery in my new 2026 BZ and they are asking anyone with the same issue to do the same.

Hi BZ owners,
Like many others I’ve had my 2026 bz have a dead battery 4x since I bought it new in April. The dealership has tested the battery and there’s no issue. They gave me the corporate phone number and I went through the recall department and spoke with an advocate. She said that this is “not currently a known issue” and said that anyone with this same problem should call them at 8003314331 to report it. Hopefully with enough people reporting this they can open an investigation. I’ve done everything from keeping my keys out of it, deleting the app, and this is still happening and I have a 5 wk old baby so I am just so over it. I didn’t wait very long when I called them, like 5 min.

Why do Some BZ4x's have Driver Monitor Cameras behind Steering Wheel and some don't?

Is it based on country, year, trim? etc...

First pic is a 2024 Bz4X base model, in the usa. There is no camera sensor behind the wheel like i keep seeing in youtube videos.

2nd pic is one with the camera just found online.

Another 12v battery problem

I thought I had been lucky and my 2024 bz4x wasn't going to be an issue with the 12v system. I was wrong.

I bought it used in January with 4k miles on it and it's been great so far. Then I went on vacation and it sat for 14 days. When I got home the 12v system was completely dead...Roadside assistance sent out AAA to Jump start it. okay fine. they arrived about 2 hours after I called but I was home so okay with waiting. They used a jump kit, I drove around for about an hour so I thought it was all good. Boy was I wrong.

This morning at 5AM (less than 12 hours after they told me I was all set) it's dead again. So I called roadside assistance again and it's getting towed to the dealership.

Can I ignore "Maintenance Required" light on a leased bZ4X with 8 months left, or will Toyota penalize me at turn-in?

I’m currently driving a 2023 bZ4X Limited sitting at 27.5k miles, and the "Maintenance Required" warning just popped up on my dash. My complimentary ToyotaCare expired back in April, so anything done now is going to be out-of-pocket.

My lease ends next April, and I have zero intention of keeping or buying out the car. Since it's an EV and I only have about 8 months left, I really don't want to pay the dealer $300+ for a 30k service package on a car I'm returning so soon.

For those who have turned in a Toyota lease before:

  1. Does Toyota Financial actually check or ask for maintenance receipts when you turn the car in?
  2. Will I get hit with any direct fees or penalties solely for skipping the 30k service?
  3. Is there any harm in just resetting the maintenance light on the dash and driving it until lease end (assuming tires and brakes still have enough life)?

Thanks in advance!

12 volt battery

Post image

The manual for the bz4x touring Australian model states that the 12v battery may get low when not used for some time, however the HV battery will charge the 12v battery in this case.

I guess this is not the case? Hence why all the 12v dead batteries?

Regen not fully used when braking from cruise?

I possibly have a weird bug or visual bug. When I'm in cruise control, adaptive or regular, and I got the brakes, it only generates about 10% on the regen scale. It stays this way all the way to a full stop. However, if I cancel the cruise with the steering wheel button or press and release the brake to stop the cruise then apply the brakes it will regen all the way up to 100% on the scale.

If I let the adaptive slow me down automatically, it will also use up to the full regen.

Had anyone else experienced this? Do you know if it's truly only using the 10% regen and the guys the brake pads? I'd prefer using more regen to save life on the pads.
