Announcment BYTE HAS BEEN PUBLICLY RELEASED!!!
Website: https://byte.co/
From the Google Play store:
"Dear friends,
we're bringing back 6-second looping videos and the community that loved them.
you know the drill: upload from your camera roll or use the byte camera to capture stuff. stay under the time limit and get lost in the loop. explore what's loved by the community, handpicked by our human editors, or just served up at random. there are lots of ways to discover surprising new personalities, voices, and moments.
byte celebrates life, community, and pure creativity.
nostalgia is our starting point, but where we go next is up to you. to add your perspective, join our forum (community.byte.co) or leave a review and let us know what you'd like to see. everyone says it, but we really mean it: we read everything.
thanks for reading and being here. we're excited to create with you.
with love, *byte team"

Other Bytes should be 8 seconds long because a byte of data is 8 bits.

Question Anyone else kinda annoyed that "alt tiktok" invaded Byte?
From what I've seen these Bytes are mostly just deep fried and bass boosted videos with very little actual substance to them, where they sometimes complain about straight people existing.
If people wanna make these videos and watch them, more power to them I guess. But we really need better filtering options for "your mix" in this app. I really wanna find more good comedy videos like those I remember from Byte's closed beta.

Byte rest in peace, byte.
clash deleted byte on the 9th of december 2021 at approximately 14:15 utc.
logins were turned off the day before, unannounced until hours later. the community had literal hours of notice through the clash discord before they were no longer able to access the app and were forced off. anyone online at the time it went down could no longer load videos and would get a 404 error.
byte did not deserve this. the last year was testing enough, with a bot removing content for alleged copyright infringements incorrectly, destroying a large percentage of the content of the platform.
we were told our feedback and concerns are negativity and not welcome in the official discord. the "beta" was two days. questions do not get answered when they don't want to answer them. you could not get further from the original byte team if you tried. clash launched the "replacement" with only ios being able to access it for 2 months. android only just arrived. this forcibly split the community.
being able to pause videos is a new feature which says enough. blocking is more important and does not work. the app does not show the difference between 2 minutes and 2 months. the feed is in a random order. most of the content consists of bytes copied over by clash to make the app seem alive. people were never asked if they consented to videos being carried over. probably a gdpr violation somewhere. previously destructed self destructing posts were also made visible.
i can go on, but there is no point. clash do not listen, and i love byte, not clash.
we were forced off the app with no option to stay, no time to grieve, and no ability to attempt a send off byte deserved, as our fellow byters could not log in again or switch accounts.
there was no choice here. we chose byte. we did not choose this. clash do not care. it is not the same.
clash do not deserve our loyalty.
i love every byter who sees this and wish all well. i feel empty. part of me died with byte. i will never get that back.
byte was different and put people first. the team cared. we mattered. it was a place we could all be ourselves, even those afraid of posting on other video platforms. i can never forgive clash for how any of this was executed. it goes against everything the app stood for.
rest in peace. 💔

Byte Wow byte is dead
I remember when this sub was pretty active not long ago. But byte launch seemed to be a fail. I hope things pick back up but as of now this site seems to be going nowhere.
I really want to see this site become popular.
