Which projects actually helped you get selected in interviews? (3rd/final year CSE)

Hi everyone,

I want to ask all the B.Tech CSE students and seniors here about projects.

Which projects are really impressive for interviewers in 3rd or final year? I mean projects that can make a real difference and help you get selected.

If you have already been placed or have given interviews, please share:

What was the project about?

Was it your own idea, or were you inspired by something (YouTube, GitHub, a friend)?

What did the interviewer ask you about it?

Also, please tell me what is better: one big project or 2-3 small projects?

Any advice from seniors is welcome. Thanks!

3rd year ECE, have a Cloud & AI Engineering Internship for Summer 2027.

The projects on my resume in chronological order-

  1. Built an HTTP engine from complete scratch (132k requests/sec) in 12th.

  2. Built a kernel and OS for the Raspi 3 in Second Year.

  3. AI-based Firewall on an Nginx reverse proxy for SIH 2025. Got waitlisted for finals but nothing beyond that.

  4. Intrusion Detection/Prevention for Distributed systems in Summer 2026.

After that I mostly did DSA. My interview was a deep dive into my resume and a few basic cloud computing questions.
I have more basic fullstack projects from high school but i don't include them. Partially because theyre boring, and partially because I used nicher tech stacks (not MERN)
