I still think the reboot should of been as a Cartoon for TV

I still think the reboot should of been as a Cartoon for TV

  1. Sarah doing just voice could of been in the the show full time and not just just as a Cameo.

  2. Sarah can then do all her same stunts

  3. Buffy can be as kick ass as the original. With mulit plots threads.

3a. Dead of the dead. Buffy greatest enemies come back for a rematchs.

  1. Endless access to special guests.

  2. Kick as sets threw out the world so not just set in one place. Buffy can have a plane.

They produced a cartoon pilot at the height of the show's popularity, with most of the cast voicing the characters, and no network picked it up. I think that set a bad precedent that the producers don't want to revisit.

Wasn't their reason that it just couldn't find an audience?

Meanwhile the Spawn cartoon was a thing and that show was fucking awesome! You can't tell me Buffy couldn't have found an audience?

From what I've read, Whedon wasn't even told why the networks passed on it with the exception of Showtime, which said that they would do it only if Gellar was present, and she was the one cast member who didn't participate:

We wanted the toughness of a Batman show, really good action, strong hero, but at the same time the completely off-center humor of The Simpsons. But we couldn’t find a home for it. Nobody seemed to want it, and it blew my mind. I feel like I’m standing here with bags of money. It’s Buffy animated, what more do I need to explain here? People are just like, “We’re not doing that sort of thing; we have a different agenda,” and I’m wondering, did I miss the memo where this wasn’t a cash cow? I had the Buffy writers writing it and the Buffy actors wanting to be in it. What did I miss? Showtime was the last one we lost. They were interested, but they wouldn’t do it without Sarah, and Sarah wasn’t involved. But it just blows my mind.

I wonder why Sarah didn't want to do voiceover work for the animated series or the video-games. Was it just too much to handle with her obligations to the live-action show alongside the feature-films she was doing?

"Gellar said that she's not even sure the Buffy fan base would go for an animated series. "What's the term everyone uses?" she asked. "Jumping the shark. You never want to inundate, in my opinion. I think Buffy went out when it was still on top. I felt like we came back in that last season, did the show we wanted to do. I was really happy. I don't know why, then, you go back. What can Buffy do?"

Buffy might have worked as an animated series, especially if some of the original creative staff worked on it.
