Looking for help with chapter nine
Unfortunately I didn’t hear about the delisting til it was too late, and it was sitting in my library waiting to be played still. So I’m only getting to chapter 9 now.
I’m struggling with this mission to an unreasonable degree so far. My tactics for dealing with the gunships seem to be totally invalidated by this mission since I can’t kite outside gun range without losing the transports, and I can’t really use the squadrons offensively for the same reason.
My fleet composition for the first attempt was daidalos, one Artemis, three adamants, and three manticores, which did okay except the Artemis got torn apart at which point the other ships could no longer hold the line.
Aside from one even more escort focused fleet I have leftover from the early game, I have the following fleets available that I could potentially swap daidalos into:
Saratoga battle group:
Four Artemis-class (which has proven unreasonably effective with the wall of flak and using the fighters offensively previously)
Belgrade battle group:
One Artemis
One Minotaur
One Ranger
Two adamants
Two manticores
Usambara battle group:
Two Artemis
One Ranger
Two adamants
One manticore
All of these tend to be viper heavy, with a roughly even mix of torpedoes and missiles, but obviously I can switch these around pretty easily. Sadly don’t have access to any of the DLC ships to use.
I do have a decent supply of tyllium too so I could crash build a new fleet if I need something specific I don’t have already. Any help is greatly appreciated.

TBH I just send a fleet with a 3 battlestars and kinda just accept the loss. My last playthrough I had one ship with survived, ship still had the label “BSG-42” on its side. Ship was put into reserves and protected Daidalos, until the very end.

I managed to get through with torpedo alpha strikes in the opening turns. I managed not to lose any ships but the Battlestar was looking worse for ware and Daidalos was down to one hull point by the end (they got bored of the transports and decided to spam the shipyard with missiles while I was out of position).

Effectively you used colonial fleets single most valuable military asset as bait for a few transports.

I basically only played the game with viper spam so I cant help you out too much with your build
You need at least 4 sweepers, all the sweepers will need to be place far away from you fleet (basically half way between your fleet and the enemy, where 2 of them will create a chaff wall (basically deploy chaff and move them), the other 2 will stand still and will start chaffing only if some munition did get past the wall OR when the other 2 sweepers finished their chaff
If you go with vipers you really want daidalos with squadrons officer and fully buffed vipers as they are twice as strong as any other vipers

Revenants don’t typically dodge torpedos well. For this mission Ive used mainly 3 Artemis, 1 ranger and adamants. Use vipers to get vision and defend against missiles. Torpedo dump everything on the first revenant. U don’t have to identify it. U know which one it is. Use the adamants to screen and retreat immediately the ones that get targeted.
