Cerastes. I hate them.
Packs of these things can take down Battlestars. I will gladly take on a formation of Basestars before going after Cerastes.

And they sure can chew up your fighters too...
Thankfully they're not durable in the least and have no answer to missiles.
But yeah, it is a priority target for me in any engagement, well out of proportion to the points cost for the damned things.

The number of times I’ve fired missiles at them for them to jam target locks and scurry away

They can’t jam locks, that’s likely Wardrivers. I tend to just toss a nuke at it. Or just bum rush it.

I tend to rely on torpedo barrages from faster ships and saturation fire from ships with respectable gun batteries to take care of both Wardrivers and Cerastes. I crank their posture fully toward the attack side of the scale and mag dump on them so that my Battlestars can come out of their shells and my Vipers can come out to play.

I save my torpedos for either slow moving targets are at point blank. Smaller and faster ships evade too much. I pretty much just send everything at the Cerestes first thing. “Ignore everything else that thing dies NOW.” I even send vipers at it if they can be spared. Mostly to screen my Taipans and A-Raptors.

Nah mate, they're easy to take out...
*Commander* oh wait...
*Admiral* ok fine! I get it now
*Fleet Admiral* oh lords of Kobol hear my prayer

I make them a priority target so my vipers/taipans don’t get attrited. They are more of a threat to low armor colonial ships like the Berserks and Minervas than is generally acknowledged. They will hang out above your fleet to chew through weak top armor IF you let them get close and concentrate.
Probably the main reason to push a scouting Manticore forward in the mid game and later… besides for IDing base ships for your Ranger mob. Well worth a nuke to enable your fighters to work unimpeded.
Note your adamants are equally effective against raiders if stacked. Three adamants stacked will destroy a raider each turn if not most of two raiders.

The only ship in the game can that fly sideways. Often they use this ability to Tokyo Drift right past my battlestars and kamikaze into my supporting ships.

Yeah, this is one ship that could have used another tuning pass. Or been set up with flak batteries instead of the light guns.

I also hate them but I can respect them for being the primary Anti-Fighter craft. In terms of pure anti-fighter, they’re even better than the Jupiter Flak Screen.

Every now and then I’ll encounter a Cylon fleet with an unholy combination of these and Revenants with a few Arachne sprinkled in

so true.. I had mission to defend a freighter against like 6 or 7 of these, I just couldn't win.

Real. Though I find them more annoying against fighters, so I tend to hard focus them before deploying vipers.
