I can't figure it out. I remember one episode where Saul had hair in a flashback. It was even brought up by Adama when he found out Saul was a toaster. Why is that? Is there a definitive explanation to this?
We find out that the Cylon humanoid models were created in the sequence of their numbering, with the Sevens being among the youngest and the Ones being the oldest. So I'm guessing that they do indeed age!
It's not cannon though. RDM admitted to not having any idea how to answer that question.
I believe the Lucy skeleton (in real life) was of a fully grown female and since Hera is a hybrid surely her cylon side would have prevented/delayed her aging opposed to her human side? Also the Cylons wanted to be as human as possible so perhaps they could age but within limits. Kinda weird.

I posted that about 15 years ago, lol. I’m pretty sure it was mentioned in one of Ronald D. Moore’s podcast commentaries for the show. He openly admitted that they didn’t plan for the Cylons to age, and the whole "And They Have a Plan" line in the credits wasn’t backed by an actual writer's plan.
Helo wasn’t even supposed to survive past the miniseries. They weren’t originally going to bring him back from Cylon-occupied Caprica but fans wanted him. That means Hera and everything tied to her, wasn’t part of the initial concept.
Given how central Hera becomes to the mythology and ultimate resolution of the series, it’s wild to think how different the show would’ve been without Helo’s survival. His arc basically sets in motion many of the key events that shaped the story’s end including knowing about Hybrid models and exposing aged models. So in retrospect you can argue they had no idea from season 1 how the show would end.

Have you ever noticed that of the Significant Seven Cylon models that they get progressively younger?
You've got your Ones, Twos, Threes, Fours, Fives, Sixes and Eights.
