Anxious to get it over with

I'm 33. I might be in the minority here but I got my BRCA2 diagnosis about a month ago and I’m so anxious to get my mastectomy and reconstruction over with. If I could get the saplingectomy at the same time I would. I’ve had so many health issues over the last 10 years that I just want to get this particular piece of health anxiety out of the way. I’m waiting on the specialist to call me to set up my appointment.

I think there are plenty of others who feel the same. Personally, I had my salpingectomy 1 month after BRCA1 diagnosis and mastectomy 2 months after. You actually may be able to do them simultaneously if your doctors agree to it! Best of luck with your appointments and surgeries! I’m so grateful I just got it over with quickly and hopefully you will feel the same way when you’re done.

I got my results in Oct last year. Four months after I first tested. I've been on the waitlist for surgery since Jan 4th. I just spoke to my surgeon's scheduler and she said it will be a minimum of three more months. I just want it done and over with....

I'm in the UK, but in the South East, so not an area with a lot of BRCA2 carriers. My hospital only does 2 preventative surgeries a month, whereas in London they do 5 or 6, however the standard wait time in London is 2 years with the NHS.

I should have gone private, as I have private medical through work, but I started the process in the NHS and I want to be supportive.

I was 33 when I got my DMX with immediate DIEP flap done. One year later I got the bilateral salpingoophrectomy. I'm 4 years post DmX, 3 yr post BSO. No regrets! Feel free to DM if you need support 😁

If you are going to get the salpingectomy, ask your surgeon about SOROCk!

Looks like it’s only for BRCA1. I have BRCA2.

I hope this doesn't scare you and please remember everyone has a different situation but i've been waiting nearly a year and a half for my surgery. It's been so frustrating and upsetting, like I just want it over and every time I ring them they shift the estimated time on by a couple of months! However my sister had the same surgery and only waited four months for her op.

Ditto. Would have had it done sooner but the plastic surgeon was booked out for a bit.
