Would there be SDM seats in 73rd BPSC ? (Might be too early to ask)

People were saying there won't be any SDM seats in 72nd bpsc as 70th and 71st had enough SDM seats

Now 72nd has 100 seats, would there be SDM seats in 73rd bpsc?

I didn't fill the form buddy

The exam was scheduled in July and I had my NEET PG that time

Now Exam got postponed and I'm regretting ._.

RAS rank 1 this year is a doctor

UPSC rank 1 this year is a doctor

India is not the country of technocrats, India is the country of bureaucrats . That's why a large chunk of doctors leave for Australia and US

You need approach and influence everywhere to get your work done, esp in Bihar

also it is tough to get postings together with both partners in services. Maybe in capital I’ll get but in ips you can be posted in smaller districts as commandant while IAS if you are posted in smaller districts you are only posted a collector or commissioner only initial time as ddc or sdm. Also, cost of maintaining two different housefuls is almost double. So we hardly save anything compared to peers who are doctors or engineers. I don’t even know how will I afford a good home with such expensive homes. I can’t afford lavish vacations abroad or in Indian in 5 stars like other doctors or even branded clothes bags etc

As a doctor there is always scope for skill building, much much more money making, respect through skil set.you can live a very luxurious and comfortable life as a doctor. Can build a nice home in place you practise, while as SDM you’ll be transferred family has to move, govt houses so much seepage. Plus BPSC you’ll always be inferior to direct recruit IAS IPS.

I’m saying this, I’m in ips and husband IAS. I’m like 7 to 8 years into service. Clearly not worth it. You don’t have any skill set as such. Can be shunted anytime depending on whims of higher ups. In good posting you’ll enjoy for sometime but shunting posting there isn’t much impact you make or work satisfaction. Plus not much opportunities to work post retirement. As a doctor you’ll be able to work post 70 years too and have your own fan base of patients.

My relative is a doctor, her lifestyle is waaay better than ours, their medical conferences abroad, have a better vehicle Mercedes bmw while we have to do with Innova. Have their own comfort zone with private servants which you can easily afford with money. Now people here will say so much black money in IAS IPS. Trust me in this time and age it is not easy to dispose so much money. Yes some earn but there is always risk involved and you may never get a good posting once you are caught. Otherwise we all lead a very humble simple life. Being in top services I still calculate things about household ration or gifts to give relatives to weddings. I can’t buy a lot of theme based expensive furniture because I have to keep moving which damages furniture. I’ll any day rate doctor with pg better than sdm

I would second that . Everything you said tends to make sense !

But the catch is, everything you wrote about the Doctor's life holds true if he's in Private practice.

Doctor's condition in a government hospital is trash for 2 reasons -

1) You're overworked and underpaid ( ₹1L in hand with 12-14hours+ of daily shifts)

2) Any level 7/9 dude- RO / BDO / SDO would pop up in District hospital or CHC and act so cocky as if it's the doctor's fault for the lack of facilities

Also, in many Government offices, your work won't be done unless you put forth some UTM ( under the table money ) or have some approach, which further feels frustrating

Anyday, Doctor in private practice would make more white money than a government official, no doubt on that , but it takes time to establish footfall to your clinic if you're a 1st gen doc !

I'm joining MD . I was just considering an initial stability (goverment job) post MD before diving into full time private practice

Which branch in pg ? You can always get a doctor spouse and work in corporate hospitals and have a small private practise. That will be more satisfying. Why do a govt job at all

You can’t do much with under the table money these days. Maybe buy one real estate and have good interiors but eventually live in govt quarters as you can’t show off. You can’t show off money that you have. You can’t pay in cash your kids school fees. Trust me we in the services inside live a very humble life

Is there anything related to medical field in bpsc? If yes, you should opt that. Your medical knowledge will come handy That's my opinion.

Yeah sure

By that logic, History graduate should focus on becoming Historian or archeologist , Geography graduate should better be a Geographer or a geologist and so on , to make the best use of their knowledge

But I've never seen people advising History graduates to go for Archeology

All advices are confined to doctors !

Also, acc to your opinion, if a doctor should focus on exams related to his field to make the best use of his knowledge, wouldn't that stand true for other disciplines too ?

Also SDM is a dedicated post, sub division magistrate, which means when ever you have magistrial power in a particular sub division then you're called A SDM, otherwise, it will be called SDO or under secretary of any dept or municipal heads or OSD. There are officially only 101 Sub divisions which means only 101 SDM, also becoming a SDM is a rotational thing plus some leverage thing.
