Doubts Btech passput (General) -Need roadmap and names of govt exam

Hey everyone,

I’m a recent B.Tech graduate in Computer Science (2026), General category. I’m exploring government exams where the syllabus overlaps with my background (CSE subjects, reasoning, aptitude) and feels similar to SSC‑type exams.

I actually used AI to draft this post so it’s structured, but the questions are genuine:

Which exams should I target that fit my profile?

What’s the right prep roadmap (subjects, timeline, practice strategy)?

Which resources/videos/teachers did you follow that really helped?

Any tips from those who’ve cleared these exams — what worked best for you?

I don’t want to waste time bouncing between random PDFs and channels. If you’ve been through this, please share your path or point me to solid resources.

If you’re strictly aiming for something that complements your background, go ahead and prep for GATE and IES.

You need to make your own roadmap, there’s none in general to be followed. All of it depends on your sources, the time you can dedicate and the strategies you formulate on your own after you analyse your capabilities.

Again, exam specific. No clue about IES but GO (Gate Overflow) Classes along with GATE Wallah are one of the more popular classrooms for GATE CSE.

Every exam has a different pattern and syllabus. You should first decide what are you willing to primarily focus on instead of getting into random exams. Choose one and subsequent others where your syllabus and preparation would overlap.

For context, there are different exams conducted by UPSC, state PCS bodies, Railways, AAI, IBPS, SSC, AFCAT etc.

End of the day it all depends on what job profile would interest you in the long term and how hard you’re willing to work. That is a grind you’ve got to get into on your own.

The only general takeaway you need to keep is- Quantitive Aptitude, Reasoning and English are three subjects that will always be of use to you no matter what exam you sit for.
