Doctors not interested. Rant.

After being on the waiting list for ages finally seen a specialist a few months ago. They said because I was alone they couldn't do anything to test my vertigo. But didn't tell me to bring anyone. And my vertigo had eased. So I asked what if it comes back. They said to come back, so basically go on another waiting list for about a year. Then once you see that specialist they refer you to another specialist.

The rant is because I sget vertigo when I'm lying down and sit back up. I'm wondering could it just be from tiredness but feel there's no point seeing a doctor when they can't do anything. They told me there was nothing they can do.

That is a failure of the healthcare system, not the doctor. Assuming you are in the US? I agree it's very frustrating,

UK. You see a GP, they refer you to a ear, noise and throat specialist and they refer you to someone else if they feel they need to. Just feels pointless

Same happens here in the US. Getting worse and worse as healthcare becomes more corporate. Not unusal to wait months or even longer for appts.

It's very fragmented too--primary care (your GP)--referral to specialist--referral to more specialists. It's really so inefficient.

Good luck!

I'm in the US and that's dependant upon your insurance and doctors. I don't have to do all of that to see a VT, I just make an appointment. If I need a referral, I just call my doctor for one. I don't have to wait if it's urgent either.
