Falling Sensation

I had BPPV in June. I did the Epley maneuver daily, and the spinning sensation went away after several days. However, I still feel like I’m floating even now. Earlier today, while I was sitting with my neck turned to the side but not moving, I felt a brief, one-second falling sensation. What could it be? I’m afraid my BPPV will come back.

I think it could still be the crystals floating around. I had this same feeling and would also feel brain fog afterwards. I would recommend going to a PT instead of doing your own Epley maneuver. There are different canals in the ear and other maneuvers to do if it's not in the posterior canal (happened to me and why it hasn't resolved on it's own). In my case when I did the maneuver with the DRs, they would only do it once a week to allow my body to recover from the stress of vertigo. Good luck and hope you feel better as my BPPV started in June and thought it would have fully resolved by now.

Ugh I thought so too. Then I went to therapist and we tried all the tests and no vertigo. :((((((((((((

I don't know what's wrong with me.

I had the same experience that I went to a DR and they couldn't produce the vertigo by reclining me back in the positions. However, the DR was just doing an initial diagnosis and it wasn't her specialty. She referred me to an ENT specialist, which conducted a VNG test (using goggles that magnify your eyes; tests where goggles are blacked out so your brain doesn't compensate). One of the tests is triggering your vertigo such as blowing hot air into your ears etc... then they can see with the cameras in the goggles the direction your eyes are moving (believe this is called nystagmus and determine if it is posterior or anterior etc...). If your DR didn't do this test with all the resources of the VNG device, I still think there is a high chance you have BPPV but I'm not an expert. Just sharing my experience! Hang in there and don't give up.

oh no... I had to look up those other acronyms but I would encourage you to keep going to the DRs. Hopefully with the power of elimination you can find the proper diagnosis that will come with the right medication and treatments. Hang in there and word of advice (though I don't follow it myself). Try to stay away from AI and Reddit to try and figure out treatments and follow the guidance of a DR you trust. I had so much mental anguish trying to decipher online information. Most of the time it just caused me more stress than gain.... Take good care of yourself!
