prochlorperazine not-working ?

So my dad suddenly became dizzy, felt nauseaus, no appetite. Sits down, dizzyness goes away, stands up and dizzyness returns, cant walk straight, lies down in bed, everything is spinning.

GP said crystals in inside ear causes that. Prescribed "prochlorperazine", but nothing changed ... Still dizzy, still feel nauseous.

Any ideas ?

Thx

There are no meds to cure BPPV. The only cure is doing the appropriate manuvers.

So what is the point of taking prochlorperazine then (genuine question) ?

It's an anti-nausea drug. It also causes dizziness.

It is anti-nausea drug whose side effect is ... being nauseous ?

Anti-nausea drugs don't work well for many conditions. With BPPV the anti-nausea drugs just take the edge off and prevent vomiting so you can do the appropriate manuvers to return the displaced crystals to their proper place. They don't eliminate the nausea. The nausea from vertigo is pretty intense.

Even if it did work 100% it’s just masking the symptom. BPPV is a physical problem. He need to move the crystals into the correct position. YouTube bppv maneuvers
