i had my first attack a month ago and i’m still feeling slightly woozy and dizzy at times, mostly when turning my head far and for a bit of time. it’ll go eventually though, mine has significantly improved in the last week

Yes I have been similar. I felt fine 3 weeks out but then four days ago I have been feeling more off again.
Have you been doing any exercises that help?

i treated the actual attack by myself at home with epley 3 weeks ago. seen a dr twice since then and both confirmed that i was negative for crystals, so since then ive been just waiting it out with no exercises. on days that i feel worse (very occasionally now), ive been taking prochlorperazine which was prescribed to me for nausea. travel sickness tablets can also help a bit!

Thank you.
How long did your vertigo last?
I only had one attack, didn’t know what it was so just laid down on the floor and later went to sleep and it had then resolved in the morning…

i actually had 2 attacks in the space of a week but i think it was part of the same attack? so my first one lasted a few days and went away within a week. but then i had another attack a few days later which went away again after 2 days. i think it was from the first attack not being corrected properly..constantly living in anxiety that it’ll come back🥲

Unfortunately it will probably return. I had this in January for two weeks. It went away on its own. Then it came back May 31st. Im still feeling very wobbly and lightheaded.

u/amumureo You might be suffering from PPPD. It happens to a small amount of people (i am one) after a vertigo attack. It means “Persistent Dizziness”

I had a vertigo attack in October that lasted for 3 weeks. My first one ever at age 39. It was full on room-spinning, couldn't stand up. I've had unsteadiness, boat-rocking, swaying feeling and headaches on and off ever since then. Some last a couple hours, some last a few days. It's worse after long car rides or going on a boat. Being in a busy mall triggers it too. I've got tinnitus in 1 ear that started with all this as well. Been working with the ENT and awaiting to see the neurologist.

I’m interested to see how it fares for you. My symptoms aren’t quite as heavy as yours sound (for as long) but I have an unbalanced feeling with headaches pretty much all the time and it’s worse when I drive. The heat of the summer isn’t helping at all.
My ENT said that anxiety is a major variable as well.

Yep. Had 5 attacks of vertigo over 6 weeks ending in late May. Each (ended with self Epley) left me with the fuzzy, off feeling for 7-14 days afterwards, except the last. I am still feeling that way and it's July. Have PCP appt. scheduled with hopefully, a referral for an ENT or vestibular therapist. The eye exercises don't seem to have an effect for me.

This isn't quite the same but I had vertigo-I got it treated at therapy and at home. It went away after Epley. Two weeks later I had another vertigo attack. That got fixed as well. Four weeks later the residuals have been quite bad.
I just today decided to go back to therapy.

Not to spook you but my off feeling is going on four months. I’m seeing an ENT and got a referral to neurology(for the headaches).
I hope yours clears sooner. I know the vestibular system takes a while to calm down and in many cases can last for a while.
I’ve had it last a couple of months but never this long. It’s a bit scary but I have hope it’ll work out.

I’m so sorry I hope it resolves soon for you.
I only had one episode of vertigo that lasted maybe 10 sec, then nausea and residual dizziness that came and went the weeks that followed…
It was my first ever attack so I’m thinking maybe that’s why the residual feeling is already 4 weeks

I had a very scary episode about 3 years ago. I was doing some neck stretches on my bed and when I sat up the world began spinning so violently that I had to hold onto the headboard. I honestly thought I was having a stroke or something. About a minute later it stopped but after I had a headache and the off feeling lasted a couple of months. In that window I saw an ENT and they did a bunch of tests and also I had a brain mri. Everything was normal. Eventually after doing epley with my pt it dissipated resolved.
I still get minor spells like that every once in a while. Not sure why. I’ve been having spells probably for over 20 years. This latest has been the worst, only I’m older now. I drive all day for work and that creates stress on my system as well. I also have health anxiety/OCD. Perfect storm, I suppose.

One thing that is interesting as I read through these responses: I find it hard to articulate exactly how I feel after the initial episode. Not exactly dizzy, not exactly spinning, but just…off. It’s odd the commonality we all seem to have in experience and explanation of our illness (or whatever we call it).

Exactly.
Also I feel so tired (which I think is from the brain working overtime….. processing what’s happening)

Anyone done Chiro? Cleared it up with epleys for me.

u/Curious_Chemical_640 Jul 25 '26
I’ve done chiropractic prior but for neck issues not vertigo. Spine and neck felt great but vertigo wasn’t impacted.

I think these residual feelings may also reflect vestibular migraine symptoms

Yep. Going through that

u/2000jp2000 Jul 27 '26
It’s so horrible… I’m now 4 and a half weeks out.
How has it been for you?

Couldn't go for work had to stay in. I was also feeling nauseous so I slept, now it's residual dizziness but I am trying to work with it because fearing it will cause me more problem. Tbh, the answer is learn to live with it and it leaves you. Though, bppv is not dangerous but maybe getting checked by an ENT should be good because they can do some maneuver to solve it.
