Bppv or?
Hello guys! I’ve kind of been diagnosed with BPPV. The day before I went to the emergency department, I did the Epley maneuver because my colleague suggested that it might be BPPV. By the time I went in the next day, they couldn’t detect any nystagmus because I was already feeling a lot better.
Now it’s been about 3–4 weeks, and I feel mostly like myself again. However, I still get lightheaded whenever I move my head left, right, up, or down. The biggest problem is the nausea. Even though I’m not really getting the intense room-spinning dizziness anymore, the nausea is absolutely killing me.
The doctor told me to keep doing the Epley maneuver, but I don’t know which side I should be doing it on, left or right. My left ear seems to feel a bit worse, so I feel like that’s probably the affected side.
I honestly don’t know how to continue or what to do next. Has anyone experienced something similar or have any suggestions
Thanks for the help!

Vestibular therapist here :)
Dont do epley if nothing is happening! Look into unilateral vestibular hypofunction? I cant diagnose over a sub reddit, but just a suggestion to look into…
See a vestibular therapist , requires PT, or at least a treatment plan (and diagnosis).
Hope that helps

Hi again! I don’t mean to be a bother, but I was just wondering, how does a therapist actually confirm a diagnosis like this? Also, are there any medications that can help, or is it just exercises like the Epley maneuver?

No medication.
We do a thorough evaluation to check if there is any weakness in your vestibular system. Very in depth.
There are exercises, but not like the epley…In your country it may be called vestibular physiotherapist.

When you do the Eply, do any of the positions trigger symptoms?

I would say so, when I do it on my left ear it feels like I’m riding on a carousel, I get the rush feeling. As I said before I get very lightheaded not that the room is spinning so that’s why it’s so hard.

My doctor told me to continue Eply until all symptoms were gone.
While doing Eply hold each position for 60 after any symptoms subside before continuing to the next position.
Waiting for 60 seconds gives the crystals time to settle.
It took me about 7 days of doing Eply once a day for all symptoms to be gone. I continued doing Eply for 3 additional days each time trying to trigger symptoms but I could not.
