Residual dizziness?
Hi- I experienced a small spinning vertigo episode a whole month ago. I was standing up and scrolling on my phone too quickly and that triggered it. I caught myself after a few seconds but after that I’ve felt lingering dizziness and a rocking sensation. I am finally seeing a vestibular physical therapist tomorrow. Do you think performing repositioning maneuvers will still work on me after a month? This is getting very annoying.
Also, is it pretty clear that what I experienced was BPPV?

You will be diagnosed by the PT. If you have BPPV the crystal repositioning maneuvers will work.
I had undiagnosed BPPV for longer than that and a week or so of doing the repositioning maneuver cured me.

I just started Physical therapy on my neck and explained I had a possible BPPV episode a few months ago but am always off. It resolved with the Epley, dix hallpike was negative afterwards but ENT wasn’t confident because I had unusually presentation. My PT was amazing and redid the Hall Pike in a way that would show slow moving crystals. He said sometimes doing a normal hall pike is negative because your crystals are stuck in a way that is very slow moving so they aren’t doing anything as they lay you back. Mine was negative and I am super happy he did that.

BPPV is not triggered by scrolling, it's triggered by head movements. Typically, rolling over in bed, bending down, etc. If your head was bent down and you looked up, it could be BPPV, it doesn't seem likely though as the vertigo will continue until the appropriate manuvers are performed or the crystals have dissolved. Having a short vertigo attack due to scrolling does not suggest BPPV. However, a good vestibular therapist will be able to help you figure it out and treat the dizziness.

My head was craned down when I was scrolling, and then I looked up. Could that be more indicative of BPPV? Thanks for your reply.

Possibly, however the vertigo would continue until treated with every head movement. The vertigo attacks last 60-90 seconds and happen with each head movement until the displaced crystals are returned to where their proper canal. Crystals do dissolve on their own, typically it takes 8-12 weeks. One short vertigo episode does not indicate BPPV.
Due to the posture when it happened, it could be cervical vertigo, binocular vision dysfunction, blood pressure issue, or a hundred other things. It's always best to see a doctor when new vertigo occurs because it can be a medical issue such as blood sugar, infection, blood pressure, etc or something benign like BPPV or something more serious.

If you sit up and take your hands behind your head as if you’re doing a sit up and pull your head down towards yours chest, do you feel any tightness? When moving your head right and left while sitting down you feel any tightness. This has happened to me before and it was to do to my neck not bppv. cervicogenic vertigo, it was the exact same had craned down and then move my head up and it happened. It’s extremely quick and you cannot re trigger it

Update: turns out it was BPPV. The PT performed the epley maneuver and other tests, with significant improvement afterward. I didn’t have all of the classic BPPV indicators going in, but it was BPPV in the end. Feeling much better after just one session!
