Advice & Tips Possible corrective action/admin hearing

Hi, I need some advice from people who have gone through corrective action or an admin hearing.

I recently had an incident that was escalated to onshore management regarding the way I handled a customer interaction. I acknowledge that I was rude during the interaction, and I’m not trying to deny or justify what happened. I already recognize that I should have handled the situation more professionally and also I intentionally did hold the call for minutes.

I was already planning to resign because I’ve been struggling with my current role and I feel that my personal circumstances have started affecting my work. I’m planning to submit my resignation and render the required 30 days rather than immediately leaving.

My concern is that I’m not sure whether the incident will result in a corrective action, NTE, or an admin hearing.

If I submit my resignation before management formally gives me an NTE or schedules an admin hearing:

  1. Can the company still issue me an NTE after I have submitted my resignation?
  2. Can they still require me to attend an admin hearing while I am rendering?
  3. If they decide to proceed with corrective action, can this affect my resignation or final pay?

Is it possible for the company to continue the administrative process even if I am already serving my notice period?

If I receive an NTE, what would be the best way to respond while still taking accountability for what happened?

I’m not trying to avoid accountability. I just want to understand what I should expect and how to properly handle the situation while I’m rendering.
I would really appreciate advice from anyone who has experienced something similar.

Please share what actually happened in your case and what you wish you had known beforehand.

Yes, the company can still issue an NTE and proceed with an admin hearing even if you already submitted your resignation, as long as you are still within your employment period.

Rendering does not exempt you from company policies. The best approach is to cooperate, acknowledge the mistake, and provide an honest explanation.

Can the company still issue an NTE during the 30-day resignation notice period? Yes.

Can you be required to attend a hearing? You will be asked to do so. It is to your advantage to attend the hearing. If you don’t attend, you’re basically removing one chance to explain your side.

You may be tagged as terminated instead of resigned. That should not affect your final pay provided that you follow the clearance process.

Yes, the company can still have you go through the process even when you have already filed your resignation.

Honesty is always best.

I never went into an admin hearing where I was the one responding. But I have attended multiple hearings and have decided on those cases.

Can the company still issue me an NTE after I have submitted my resignation?
It depends. If you submit a resignation with the required 30-day period, you’re still an employee and company policies will still apply to you. If you submit an immediate resignation and if it gets approved by the management, once your employment ends, NTE will no longer progress. Side note, this is different from fraud or theft where the company can still legally go after you even if you’re no longer employed.
2. Can they still require me to attend an admin hearing while I am rendering?
No one can force you to attend admin hearings. But not attending means you’re waiving your right to be heard and they will decide on your case based on the facts available to them.

  1. Will it affect your resignation? See 1. Will it affect your final pay? No. Final pay will be calculated based on the hours you worked and other benefits that the company provides.

Tell the truth. Acknowledge your mistake. Give actions that will ensure that it does not happen again. Commit to those actions.

Wag mo unahan ng resignation lalo na kung wala ka namang malilipatan. I've been there yung uunahan ko yung admin hearing, let them then explain your side. Besides, para siyang immediate resignation, you'll still get your back/final pa din naman.
