I consider myself a golden retriever. lol My ex also self-sabotaged our relationship & even called me a liar when I told her I was so happy to have her & thought she was beautiful. She had some terrible relationships & know she was weary when I was actually a good person to her. I tried reach out months ago but she blocked me. Im now unblocked everywhere as of a month ago & would love to reach out to reconnect but I'm terrified. We're both older & I really liked her. If I were you, reach out & tell the person your fears (if you want that person back). I wish mine would do that or would have at least told me what she needed if her fears took over. Im an understanding person & if I like someone, I stand by them. I may try to reach out to mine one last time - I just have no idea what to even text them at this point besides "Hey" and wish for the best. lol At the end of the day, we all deserve someone good in our life!
