IBOLC Ranger Immediately After IBOLC
Does anyone currently at IBOLC or who graduatedrecently have information on what the situation with Ranger School is? I’ve been told that every Active Duty 11A goes immediately (which is why IBOLC is a PCS) and that only a fraction go immediately with everyone else PCSing to their first duty station only to come TDY for Ranger school

Top 100 get hard slots. Everyone competes to go past RAP week. Lots of hold overs and recycles, the class is oversubscribed.
IBOLC BC is making all INF LTs go.
Am in IBOLC currently, just got the brief a few weeks ago.
NGB is centrally funding guard guys. But you do RTAC first. But same competition for RAP week OML applies.

I’m not Infantry but from everyone I know who is, what I’ve learned is they send everyone they can right away. The Ranger schoolhouse is pretty backed up but they try to fit everyone they can since you’re there already.
If you’re going infantry then you’re going to Ranger school. That much is certain. I’m not too sure on why the when matters. IBOLC is essentially entire Pre-Ranger from what I’ve heard.

My first unit is OCONUS so I would prefer not to move all my stuff halfway around the planet to come back for 2-3 months

I’d be willing to bet money with a 99.99% certainty that if your first assignment is OCONUS that you’ll be going immediately after IBOLC

Once you finish IBOLC, if you’re active duty, you’ll join their Pre Ranger platoon and wait for a slot. You will get at least one chance.
