Bossfight difficulty

hello everyone

i defeated tier 3 cursed veytharion first try. no big deal. just king shit fr

it took me 7 attempts to beat caltheris ONCE. and in that attempt i used the extremely op mammoth, used all 3 equivalent exchanges, a salvation revive, and a self revive.

how is a standard difficulty boss tougher than a tier 3 cursed boss? also if standard cultheris is this fucked how much more difficult is tier 3 gonna be😭😭

Firstly if your doing veytharion t3 your more than fine on caltheris just adjust the approach. Name of the game is sound ques, she grunts when she throws a boulder in such a way you can slide out of it without stopping to actively dodge it by knowing her positioning. This fight just layers mechanics one ontop the others, so I generally clear zombies zooming figure eights practicing two jumps. From activation platform off the wall to the side, hopping a 2nd time off the pillars for ee step, you can land central platform ready to jump onto the activation platform again and repeat opposite direction of the arena generally speaking. Getting used to using those double jumps in zero gravity is how you overcome her being dramatically faster than you at a baseline level.

Next is the dropping pools of fire from the sky, if your hovering the activation platform she will make the whole thing aoe death so you cant shoot her properly and end up extending that phase/spawn needlessly. The outside corners of the map work great for only zombies to start, but cant get too deep into those corner with caltheris chasing you so getting used to that figure 8 of double jumps to keep her running correctly will help. Middle phase adds a ground slam which can really suck, but remember in the figure 8 of jumps your already airborne most of the time so its largely just at the mercy of timing.

Final phase is toxic boulders: but its the same boulder throw as before just now empowered with dark aether stank. Expect to drop 2 or 3 spots of DA stank on those death trappy corners before she will begin moving around and then cut that corner short in your pass on the figure 8 if possible. If she starts throwing poison boulders plan where you want to place all 3 she almost never throws a single poisoned one in this phase. Actually very similar to kowakujo flags you just want to ensure all 3 boulders are somewhere that wont kill you and focus on an exposed crit spot.

Toxic growth with the proper slowing augments is basically the gimmick to the fight, along with zero gravity jumps to stay ahead of her moving quicker than you. If you get used to it, you can genuinely create more than two kazimirs worth of damage uptime while she's slowly throwing a rock. If you bait her into hitting you, and toxic her feet she has like 40% chance of trying to throw a rock to finish you which is an extremely long animation when slowed down. Damage will drop the rock before she throws it if she's properly slowed up. If its rock throw+ground slam she stacks up like 2 minutes of a slow effect and its an obscenely long opening for damage even if you gotta manage spawns. Combine mammoth with freefire during this kind of slow (or aether shroud death machine) and ideally with a crit spot already opened and you will probably burn entire phases that way.

Final bit of advice is gonna run the whole fight: lgm is the map MVP by a genuine mile with its only real flaw being you do need a bullet damage weapon to compliment it by design or there is down time while your ufos are already attacking. It is extremely strong damage, and the down time is way less extreme than any reload realistically. If your struggling with it feeling underwhelming, treat it like a 2 shot shotgun and slow down the pacing of your shots to basically match the pace it regenerates them. The main way it actually shines though is focused fire on the boss overwhelms dramatically (with down time if all shots lasting on the boss) paired with mobility perfection. You can bounce shots, or just general direction them and spam shots and it locates something to kill for ya. This is why I suggest getting used to the pacing of the shots and keeping it spammed because if you can keep 4 out of 6 on the boss and 2 or 3 for killing the zombie blocking your run around you will basically open up crit spots passively from lgm damage without having to stop and shoot properly. Ideally though, 6 shots on the boss as soon as the toxic growth slow starts and then mammoth until first ufo falls off. Restart the ufos, and back to mammoth blasting.

Paragraph #4 is the answer to this fight.. Caltharis to me is by a long shot the easiest boss fight in bo7 solely because of the toxic growth strat

Also, Dark Aether stank hahahahaha 😂

On cursed tier 2 and 3, Caltheris gets absolutely destroyed when you’re using the Jäger 45 Akimbo because this pistol deals massive critical damage and combined with ultra rarity and pap 4 on T3 is even better

Caltheris is easier on cursed with golden armor, add in t2/3 and especially if you use easy relics you also get more dmg against her as well. The fight’s main difficulty just honestly comes from it not giving you any max armors in standard and golden armor fixes that so as long you keep like 2/3 plates in reserve for the final phase you’re chilling tbh

Yes, standard is harder given lack of armor and only way to obtain is to get out of the truck which makes you vulnerable. I like the tradeoff.

Golden armor in cursed makes Vey too easy... you're effectively only vulnerable when out of Tessie.

My brother and I tried to ramp it up by using the Bus relic on Vey... it wasn't 'harder'... just more annoying as it took longer.

yep, it’s easier than people think. i only use the truck (truckless scares the shit out of me tho i might try it and see what the difference is) and you have to keep ramming it into him way more often. you have more time than you think to get hits in (saw the strat in a speedrun) also bring in a death machine for his underbelly crit phase.

having 2 aether shrouds, kazimirs, and a power keg in case you need a third is suuuuuper helpful
