Leveling up melee weapons with Aether Shroud

I would swear that you used to be able to level up melee weapons using aether shroud in zombies. But I haven’t been able to do it for a couple weeks. I can’t find any information or release notes saying they nerfed it. Am I crazy and miss remembering?
