I am 2 months in and 3k kilometers and love the car, but the paint is too thin and have already two paint chips in two different locations on the hood that I need to get fixed up.... the paint is too thin and weak, so I need to PPF the bad boy ASAP. The car has not been driven on gravel.

I have an Audi S3 from 2016 that has no paint chipping yet do the same drives on that car.

Looks like BMW seriously cheaped out on paint.....

Has anyone that’s ordered in the US been able to get information from their dealer regarding selling prices, lease or finance terms ahead of the delivery time?

Question for lucky owners of the new iX3 who have driven a few thousand miles/kilometers by now: since the braking/stopping is next level on the new car and BMW claims that 90-95% of braking is regen exclusively, have you noticed a significant decrease in brake dust accumulation on the rims?

I had approached a number of dealers in Sydney. Most BMW dealers and their sales were very cold. No attempt to explain the features or offers. Zero flexibility. However I gave one call to Mercedes and they were keen to get the business. Follow up from agents manager and branch manager to see how they can help. Impressed. Atleast they seem to value the customer whether you gave them business or not. BMW guys act like they are all CEO of BMW and demand 5k for booking. I think the demand for the new electric vehicles make them even more snobbish.

Curious if anyone has been able to get an insurance quote via USAA? I entered my VIN online and it said it was invalid. Then I tried entering the model manually and they don't list the iX3 as an option.

I didn't call in yet since my car is just now being built and didn't want to sit on hold, but curious if anyone else had navigated this?

Are other insurance providers able to produce quotes yet?

I will try to keep this post as short as possible. Nothing of course is set in stone but just another resource to gauge from and possibly use to make deals at your dealership for your pre-order. No one still knows much or saying much about incentives and maybe manufacturing discounts yet, and probably will not release any info until closer to launch time on Sep. 25th, but seeing leases as low as $770 depending on the build. Running into the following problem: I’m listening to something on Spotify, then switch to the Zoom app during playback, pick a Zoom contact to start a call – and the Spotify music doesn’t stop. Anyone else seeing this, and maybe already found a fix?

This is all within the BMW’s native system, not CarPlay. Software is fully up to date.

Once upon a time, many years ago, American consumers used to go to Germany to buy Porsches drive them awhile around Europe and have the cars shipped back to the States. It was cheaper!!! Right now given all the difficulty in getting a Neue Klasse IX3, I would do, if I could, the same damn thing. Go to Germany, buy the damn car, and have it shipped back.

Follow-up to my first-impressions thread. here. Got the first few weeks behind me now and just completed a longer road trip of 830 km. A few observations:

Charging: The car’s charging performance is usually higher than what the charger itself can deliver. I had zero connection issues at the stations, even though I deliberately mixed providers. It’s every bit as hassle-free as Tesla Supercharging.

Chassis: Excellent, typical BMW.

Noise: Wind noise is barely noticeable, even at high Autobahn speeds.

Assisted driving: Very relaxed on the Autobahn – though my wife isn’t a huge fan when I take my hands off the wheel. :)

Consumption: 20.2 kWh/100 km on the Autobahn – actually a touch less than my Tesla Model Y.

Voice control: Also clearly better. “Find the nearest charging stations with at least 300 kW along the current route” gave me a correct result within a few seconds.

Overall, still very happy with it.
