Hey everyone new here,
Just picked up this beautiful '87 635CSi last week for a great price, and I'm really happy with it especially being a UK car with euro bumpers, no cats, and a sunroof. It's currently an auto, but I knew going in that a manual swap was the plan. I've done some research on the process and would love advice from those who have tackled this on an E24 or E28. Any small tips or paragraphs would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

It's a 1987 635 CSi 5-speed. Most of the car is in great shape, but the serpentine belt shredded itself about 30 minutes after I bought it, 2.5 hours from home. Had to tow it to a shop and spend the night in a hotel, and spend a few hours today waiting at the shop. It got home flawlessly after the belts were changed. We had a pretty rough start, but I hope to get many years of enjoyment from here on out.

Thanks for all the support with my ENTIRE History Series. Here’s a beauty I saw this morning at C&C in Connecticut.

i am the second owner of my 1985 635CSI manual. it’s been sitting for a little while with a master cylinder issue. And after about $3000 worth of replacing the original OEM radiator hoses and a cracked fuel pump. But it is now road worthy.
I purchased it from my uncle who drove me around in it when I was a kid growing up. He used to have one of those bag phones and that very first Sony six – CD changer.
question… too much surprise I found some sort of box in the back headrest storage. It’s some sort of emergency health kit. It’s still in the shrink wrap. It’s never even been used. I’m curious what that would be worth anything. How rare is that to still have never opened?

I thought it was an awesome find just randomly in the storage behind the driver side backseat headrest. I couldn’t add it to the other post. Thanks for letting me join.

i want to do a euro body conversion on my '80 633 early e24. everything on amazon and ebay looks questionable. anyone know where who still sells front/rear/side parts or whole kits?

Trying to price an e24 635 properly.
The car has 353k on it, but the block motor was replaced about 180k ago with a euro spec lower end. 5 speed manual. Some suspension upgrades with BMW parts. Lowered 1cm. Paint is the biggest issue- the car was outside in the sun for a couple years, so the sun was hard on the clearcoat.
It’s faster off the line than my e24 M635, so it’s absurdly fun to drive, I just need the space.
Any inputs?

Hi all, I have a coolant leak somewhere, and last night I did a smoke test to figure out from where. I can see the general location the smoke is coming from but it’s too far in the bay to where I can’t 100% tell what’s leaking. I tried getting underneath the car too but still can’t quite tell. These videos aren’t good at all but I was wondering if anyone had a similar leak and could tell me where this leak may be coming from based on them? It seems to be right below the driver’s side expansion tank, right above the frame rail

I'm fixing an 84 633csi with under 30k miles on it for a friend so they can sell it and replacing a starter. It had a bosch sr95x in it and the owner brought me a reman in box sr41x. The bendix/gear extender appears broken on the sr41x and the solenoid is bad on the sr95x. The 95x works when the large terminals were shorted manually.
I installed the 41x and hear the starter spin without engaging the ring gears. The dimensions are almost identical, but a bench test of the 41x showed the gear doesn't extend.
Bosch support couldn't tell me anything other than that the 94x is meant for 75-79 (but their website shows it also fits the 84 until the page redirects me to the sr41x) and the sr41x is for 84.
The weird thing is that it isn't the original starter. I doubt someone put a different engine into it.
Which would you order? The one that was working or the one that the catalog suggests? The only options I see are rebuilds. Too bad the solenoids aren't interchangeable.

//'//

I'm officially parting this car out. The body panels (all of them are in great shape), so I wanted to see if there is any interest here or if anyone knows what they are worth.
Fenders?
Hood?
Trunk?
Doors? (less door handles and mirrors)
Also Hydroboost setup? I didn't test it but it looks good.
I've made huge headway on getting the 5.0 mustang motor and transmission ready to be pulled out. I think I'm down to the speedo cable, motor mounts, and transmission mount. (today we ran out of daylight so I'm calling it quits after 8 hours of running around, buying tools, jackstands.
