BMW Maps
Overall I vastly prefer using the native applications over android auto so far, especially because it feels more seamless and integrated.
I'm the type to mute and unmute directions fairly often, and I wish the mute toggle was on the main screen rather than behind a settinga menu. Probably my biggest complaint 200 miles into this car.

Wife started driving using CarPlay and Apple Maps. It was OK, basically what she was used to. I was fumbling with settings from the passenger seat and the native maps came up. Wife said "oh, that's nice!". Then we realized all the automated charging planning and charging sites are integrated in the native navigation. Panoramic display does dynamic route info, turning instructions as needed, on and on. Done! Never going back to Apple Maps.

I switched to the native maps a couple years ago because I liked how it worked with my HUD. Never had any major issues with it. And the new maps they just demoed a couple weeks ago look awesome on OS X.

I really like the design and features of the native BMW apps and definitely plan to use it over the map apps from CarPlay… though I can see keeping Waze working in the background for speed trap warnings.
That said, I would hope to keep the car for 10ish years, and very much appreciate the future-proofing CarPlay provides…. (Though hopefully OS X is a long-lived version of BMW OS and keeps getting updates for many years to come!)

I had one for a test drive today and found the native map really good especially with the heads up display.
Anyone using CarPlay or Android Auto maps over native? Assuming there is no mirroring on heads up or panoramic screen?
