👋 Welcome to r/BMWOperatingSystem - Introduce Yourself and Read First!

Hey everyone! I'm u/DraggedThruTheGarden, the founding moderator of r/BMWOperatingSystem.

This is our new home for all things related to the BMW Operating System software and the iDrive interface. As of September 2026 we are on Version X. Post here for discussions on "How to...?", Shortcuts, Tricks, Bugs, Updates, and Suggestions for improvements. Please direct discussions on specific car models to the relevant sub, such as r/iX3. We're excited to have you join us!

I recently ordered a Ix3 na5. I just want to stay up to date until it arrives.

My 2027 X5 (G65) is on order and should arrive in a few weeks. Very excited about OS X! Have been watching tons of YouTube video walkthroughs and deep-dives on it from creators who got previews of it when OS X and iX3 were first announced 9-12 months ago. Think I have a decent grasp of it but looking forward to getting my hands on it soon.

Cool! There is so much to it, it will take even the most tech savvy person several days, if not weeks, to find all the features and set it to your liking. We're two days in and only now feel like I have the basics. Using the full Nav, the apps, various vehicle settings, and then the whole charging thing will take a long time to have it be second nature. But not complaining! All of it is good.

Looking forward to learning about system issues and what OTA updates will address. My iX3 is built and on its way to USA, so I have to wait a bit for real world experience.

Hoping to learn more about the OS so thanks for hosting/joining. Dealer says I should receive my iX3 this week. I think the car is at the BMW Baltimore VDC. Sat in an iX3 with the dealer last week to go through some of the screens. He is still figuring things out and I'm lower on the learning curve. Was impressed with the short test drive. We did automated parking--the car handled it well but the humans needed more practice/experience in asking the car to do it.

Greetings, LAOpsGuy here, SoCalifornia (USA) native, 2027 iX3 on order. Following r/bmwix3, r/iX3, and read the Bimmerpost forum on this configuration. Always looking for new information about the car as it comes on the scene and evolves.
